This past weekend, Buckalew Chevrolet Conroe, Texas generously invited their first 100 Camaro sales back for a celebration, lunch and convoy around town. In addition, everyone in attendance received Camaro hats and a certificate for a free oil change. Lots of other goodies were given out such as jackets, books, and coolers. There was also a photographer on hand to photograph each owner in front of the dealership. The highlight however, had to have been the police escorted convoy around town!

This past Friday, the Hankook-CGR-Blue808 Camaro drift car took to the tarmac of the Streets of Willow Springs in Rosamond, CA for a Redline Time Attack practice day and to test out the car’s new engine tune. This was the car’s first test on a real track and the Hankook Camaro performed great. And with a 1:21.0 lap time, the car now holds the lap record for a 2010 Camaro at the Streets of Willow. This record time was achieved using Hankook Rs-3 Street tires and is approximately 2 seconds faster than a ZR-1 Corvette according to Edmunds.com lap times postings.
The Camaro even got a little drifting session in before the end of the test day.

We recently reported that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has made the final four finalists (from 30 nominated cars) for the 2010 World Car Design of the Year. Well, the list was whittled down to just three finalists and the names were announced this week at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The three design finalists are:
Chevrolet Camaro
Citroën C3 Picasso
Kia Soul
The World Car Design of the Year award is meant to highlight new vehicles with innovation and style that push established boundaries. A design panel consisting of five highly respected world design experts asked to first review each candidate, and then establish a short-list of recommendations for the jurors. The original list consisted of 30 different cars.
The final winner will be revealed at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

In the second race of the Rolex Grand Am racing series (the “Grand-Prix of Miami”) held this past weekend at the Homestead Miami Speedway, Stevenson Motorsport’s #57 Camaro piloted by Davis & Liddell placed 2nd overall!
The second place finish is the highest yet by any Camaro based racecar in the 2010 Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The same #57 car placed 4th overall in the first race of the season at the “Rolex 24 At Daytona” race. At one point in the Homestead race, #57 was even the frontrunning car.
Congrats to Stevenson Motorsports and we look forward to seeing a 1st place finish sometime soon!

From JalopnikMatt: Here are the first pics of what we think is the first real fully marked-up new Camaro SS police car from the crew who put it together. Had to share with Camaro5.
The Haltom City, Texas police department’s built the first patrol car out of a new Camaro SS. They could’ve just added a light bar. Instead, they worked with a local Texas custom shop to build one epically cool patrol car.

Thanks to a very thoughtful and generous individual of our site, Mark, the picture below is being offered for bidding with 100% of the proceeds going to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Effort.
Mark created this beautiful sketch which he showed me in person at the Philadelphia/Camaro Event. It is signed by Scott Settlemire and John Fitzpatrick. And thanks to Mike (another great member here) and Marks efforts, the surrounding matt is signed by the individuals at the factory.
The size of the picture is 20″X24″
THIS THREAD will be “open” for bidding to begin Tuesday morning at 9AM. The auction will continue for one week, with bidding closing on March 16th at 8PM.

The 100,000th Camaro coupe rolled off the assembly line yesterday afternoon (as announced by an Oshawa employee)! This impressive production # has been achieved due to Camaro’s resounding sales success, and has been reached in just under one full year of fifth generation Camaro production (the one year anniversary is March 16th).
Number 100,000 was assigned its VIN# yesterday afternoon and is a 2SS Inferno Orange Metallic. Now bring on production unit #001 for the Camaro convertible!
