GM has confirmed today that it will be launching 5 new models in Europe in 2011. Among these 5 new models will be the Camaro coupe and Camaro convertible, says Chevrolet Europe president and managing director Wayne Brannon.

Quote:

European consumers will get a taste of Chevy’s future offerings at the Geneva Salon as the firm will show off the Orlando concept alongside the Camaro and the Aveo RS, which will have its European premiere after its world debut at the North American International Auto Show last month.

It is expected that Chevy will introduce the production versions of both the Orlando MPV and the Camaro Convertible by the end of the year.

No specific details were released about the Euro-spec Camaros, and even though there has been talk in the past of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out around 260HP, unfortunately for those living in European countries that base tax on engine displacement, chances are that Chevy’s muscle car will be offered with the same 304HP 3.6-liter V6 and 426HP 6.2-liter V8 engines as the North American model. This 2010 Camaro SS RS (video here) ordered by Landon Cassill, Nascar rookie of the year 2008, has been turned into quite a monster by ADM Performance. Reportedly dyno’d at 1000hp / 1000+ft-lb tq, this beast features a laundry list of upgrades and enhancements.

At the heart of the Cassill Camaro is an LPE 427 LS7 Short Block motor paired with a Magnacharger TVS2300 supercharger. Additional bolt-ons feature American Racing 2″ headers, Lingenfelter GT-11 camshaft and LS9 Flywheels, LPE Camaro Racing power steering pump, Ron Davis radiator with cooler and custom neck, 3″ Magnaflow exhaust, Rotofab coil covers, integrated boost gauge, and MTI Racing Shifter with Hurst shifter ball and line lock button. Not satisfied with the supercharged 427 LS7’s power, a custom built dry nitrous system has also been added.

All this power would be useless without proper handling enhancements and this Camaro has been built for both road racing and drag racing. Suspension upgrades include PFADT Racing Springs, PFADT Racing Swaybars, beefed up BMR upper and lower control arms, custom wheels and nit drag radial rear tires.

To help with downforce and air induction, as well as giving the car an aggressive look befitting its capabilities, a front lip spoiler, carbon fiber cowl induction hood, and trunk spoiler adorns the car.

We’re hoping to eventually see a video of the Cassill Camaro in action on the strip or road course, so stay tuned!

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

SoCal Camaro5 members may have everyone beat on the weather, but Colorado members have a good claim on better scenery! A group of Colorado Camaro owners gathered yesterday at the Garden of the Gods Visit Center in Colorado Springs. They posed their cars for a photoshoot and cruised together through the beautiful state park. Unfortunately, the day ended with each Camaro being tucked away at least temporarily due to today’s snowy forecast.

Check out photos of the beautiful Camaros in their gorgeous environment HERE.

The current 5th generation Camaro is on GM’s ZETA platform, but if Motor Trend’s report is to come true, the next generation Camaro (expected in 2014/2015 according to MT) will join the upcoming Cadillac ATS on GM’s RWD platform dubbed “ALPHA”. Another bit of information from the article is that the next generation Camaro is expected to be lighter, and the SS will potentially be powered by a supercharged or turbocharged DI 3.6L V6.

Arizona Camaros meet and greet over the weekend.

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

We’re convinced that the Camaros lucky enough to be owned by Camaro5 members residing in the sun belt must be a happier lot than their more northerly (and colder) brethren. This past weekend featured not only Camaro gatherings in California, but a large meet in Tucson, Arizona as well.

26 Arizona Camaros gathered for a meet and greet in Tucson. The Camaros hailed from the Phoenix and Tucson areas. The original goal of the event was to meet fellow owners and swap Camaro stories. But, as with any large gathering of 2010 Camaros, bypassers took notice and the event turned into a mini car show. A crowd favorite was the “Bumblebee” Camaro, with its authentic paint and personalized Transformer package. Images and video from the event can be seen here.

Our California members are fortunate to have the weather to meet year-round and they certainly take advantage of it. The coordinated photoshoot turned out great as the cars were positioned in jet fighter squadron formation. But no jet fighter squadron ever came in as many beautiful colors and configurations as these Camaros!

The production Camaro convertible is not set to enter production until next year and it’s only ever been spotted in test mule form, but a luxury car dealership ("Pricesscar") in Abu Dhabi currently has Camaro SS droptop (pics here) for sale. As far as we know, Abu Dhabi doesn’t yet possess future time travel technology, so this is most likely a one-off built by independent builders such as Drop Top Customs or NCE.
