Buick 3800 Motor for the Camaro?

There’s a rumor floating about that there’s potentially the development of another engine to go into the Camaro, based on the Buick 3800 V6 Motor, and which is not naturally aspirated (which means a supercharged or turbo version). We’re not sure what to make of this, so take it with a grain of salt, but stay tuned for any future info.

SLP Loudmouth II Exhaust homemade videos & photos

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

HERE are videos and photos of vdevine’s just installed SLP Loudmouth II axle-back exhaust system. The system was self-installed in approximately an hour and Vince’s Camaro has no other modifications. The videos give us a good sense of what the system sounds like at standstill, under acceleration, and from inside the cabin.

Not only does the system look excellent, we think it’s currently one of the best sounding exhaust systems out on the market so far. Thanks for making and sharing these videos Vince!

SLP 2010 Camaro supercharged ZL575 revealed to public

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

SLP recently showcased its ZL575 Supercharged 2010 Camaro at the Carlisle Nationals this past weekend. On this Camaro are some deliciously unique modifications (PHOTOS inside).

What the SLP ZL575 gets you is the following :
– 2300 Series TVS High-Output Supercharger for the Camaro V8 (550hp automatic / 575 hp manual)
– axle-back exhaust system
– cold air induction system
– sports suspension lowering 1″ in front / .8″ in rear
– RTM Z28-style hood with functional heat extractor scoop
– 1st gen Camaro style rear deck spoiler
– custom 20″ 5-spoke red line wheels with machine face and ZL centercaps
– rear tail light panel blackout
– heritage-style SS badging
– rear quarter vent gill insert decals in flat black
– *optional ZR1 clutch / 3:45 gear / Brembo brake upgrade

It goes without saying that we are impressed with any forced induction option, but we’re also impressed by the custom look of this car, especially the functional Z28 style hood which required the filling in of the factory “mail slot” in the front fascia and the custom wheels.

Here is a brochure of the SLP ZL575 Camaro

2010 Nickey Camaro with stinger hood completed

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

The 2010 Nickey Camaro has been completed with its pièce de résistance, the much anticipated stinger hood. The final product is impressive and thumbs up to Nickey Chicago for achieving an end product close to that envisioned as far back as November 2008 (original preview can be seen HERE). As the poster board advertisements from the photos thread shows, there are also plans for a red and black Nickey Camaro versions. We can’t wait to see those come to life!

Certain GM officials attending Carlisle Nationals this weekend held a Q&A session during which they fielded questions regarding, among other topics, a new Camaro Z28. Although nothing earth shattering was announced regarding the Camaro Z28, their answers (and actions) left little doubt that there will be a Camaro Z28 edition.

Between winks to the audience, Scott Settlemire, Cheryl Pilcher, John Fitzpatrick, Al Oppenheiser and John Cox shared the following Z28 info:

– As we previously reported, the Z28 hood will be as seen on the 2nd gen Bumblebee Camaro.
– It will receive a different grill treatment, albeit with a Chevy bowtie emblem.
– It will probably have a different rear special.
– It will have Z28 emblems and/or graphics.
– It will have a high output LS? engine (so long as it meets gov. fuel standards).
– Camaro Convertible will be available in spring of 2011, and the Z28 will follow sometime after.

And finally, although no one came out and proclaimed that the Z28 will for sure be made, what was said was for everyone to enjoy this car (the current lineup) as it is now and we’ll see what happens later (as Scott winks to the audience ;) ) Photos from the Q&A sessions can be found HERE.

A month ago, we posted information on American Racing Header’s aftermarket headers and tune for the new Camaro. The official manufacturer gain result was +50hp. A Camaro5 member (pharmd) has since installed American Racing Headers and received the custom ARH tune on his Camaro (and no other modifications). The resulting power gain was +42rwhp @ 5300rpm / +42rwtq @ 4200rpm. Results explained HERE.

With such a nice gain on the dyno, the real world feel on the butt dyno should be noticeable as well, as confirmed by pharmd in this video of an improved 0-60 run after the installation of headers and tune. Video HERE.

Many forum members are reporting receiving some celebrity like attention when driving their 2010 Camaros to showings of Transformers 2, which just opened at theaters this week. This is somewhat expected, as Bumblebee Camaro once again stars as one of the principal characters in the summer blockbuster.

However, the amount of special attention being paid to member’s cars has surprised even us. Member derin11’s car was actually roped off and displayed in front of a theater showing Transformers 2. Others report of being flooded by kids and adults alike asking about “bumblebee” and the new Camaro.

So, if you plan on taking your brand spankin new 2010 Camaro to a Transformers 2 showing, make sure to look like a celebrity, because you (or more likely your car) may just be treated like one :)

UPDATE: Also see THIS Camaro5 member’s bumblebee clone on display inside an actual theater.

2010 Camaro orders outrunning supply

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

Bloomberg reports that 25,000 Camaro orders have now been taken, as confirmed by Terry Rhadigan, a GM spokesman. Only half of these orders have been filled so far, and due to the popularity of the 2010 Camaro, new orders are now outrunning new supply. Dealers report that new Camaros received sell within days, and sometimes within hours. Dealers simply can’t stock them quickly enough.

It’s been reported that on average new Camaros are selling for approximately $500 over MSRP, although on the forums we have seen many instances of dealers asking for more than that. Although we’d love to see production matching the increase in orders, it’s still great to see the Camaro has been a silver lining during GM’s bankruptcy.
