East Texas Muscle Cars’ Turbo V6 Camaro to take on GT-R at the ring!

The Nissan GT-R is a proverbial godzilla on the famed Nurburgring track in Germany. Any car able to match the GT-R’s Nurburgring lap time would be instantly legitimized as a world-class performing and handling sports car. This is the feat that East Texas Muscle Cars has undertaken with its plans for a turbocharged 2010 V6 Camaro! They have charged themselves with the goal of developing a Camaro to beat the Nissan GT-R’s Nurburgring laptime.
You may wonder why they did not use the more powerful V8 Camaro as the base car from which to develop their project car. Company spokesman Mike White indicates that it was simply a desire “to do something a little different.” As there are already several monster force fed V8 Camaros produced by various tuners, using a V6 to accomplish such a lofty goal would certainly make the accomplishment that much more impressive.
The car will initially be a one-off project and will be powered by the Camaro V6 LLT motor with modified Squires Turbo System remote-mount turbocharger kit. Expected power is approximately 500 horsepowers. Additional modifications will include forged crank and rods and pistons, Baer big brake kit, 20″ iForge wheels and Pedders coilovers and bushings. ETMC is looking to complete this project for under $55k (Camaro price included!). Once completed, this Camaro and a GT-R will be shipped together to the ‘ring’ for the hot laps showdown!
This supremely fast Camaro will debut in the Squires Turbo Systems booth at the 2009 SEMA Show.
