I received my plate(s) yesterday, and the horrible realization hit me that Texas does have a back and front plate law. I have read several threads on this, but I wanted to see what the locals are doing. First of all there is not a suitable place to put it on and second it is going to look like crappolla on the front of such a beautiful car. What are you guys doing? Does someone make a bracket for the camaro, are you just leaving it off?

I do not see any front plates on the camaros lined up there at the meeting. I guess everyone is just leaving them off, which is what I am inclined to do. I just dont want to attract any more attention than I already am.

I'm definitely leaving mine off, and I haven't had a front plate in 5+ years. I've only had an issue with it once, when I was pulled over for driving fast in an apt complex. Since the cop couldn't do anything about me driving quickly in an apt complex, he took issue with the missing front plate. I ended up just getting a warining.
Search the forum for front plate bracket. There are a few posts about creating a bracket that attaches from the bottom, instead of drilling the front bumber. If memory serves me correctly, there are a couple places that will sell the kit as well.

I say no bueno my friend! My 4th gen has it's behind a billet grille and I am contemplating on taking it off as well....except for where I live the cops look for any and everything to get you by....
When I get my new Cam I am just going to deal with it...no front license plate.

Since I have posted this thread, I have made an effort to see how many car
on the road do not have a front plate, and I swear it is probably about 25% Especially the high end cars like mercedes, beemers and such. I am just going to leave the other one in the car and play dumb if I get pulled over tell them that I have not been able to get a good bracket for it so I wont have to drill holes in the bumper. Regardless of how you mount it, it just takes away from the looks with that fugly plate up front.

I went about 3years before they gave me a ticket for no front plate on my 98. He did state that he better not see me again without it and since i commute that road twice a day, i put it on that weekend. He was a state trooper. So I'll leave this one off too. Looks like it got unloaded in Dallas this weekend!

Ive been driving Camaros for over 30 years and have never had a front plate on them and have never been given a ticket just one warning.

I met up with a friend of mine this weekend, and his vette has a really nice fold down bracket. It is installed on the underside of the front bumper, and almost all the way to the driver's side. The bracket allows the plate to be flipped down and pushed back under the bumper. Pretty sweet, if you must put something on. For me, I again will be risking it.

Yeah, I think I am going to wait and see what happens. I am sure I can get off with a warning first. If I do need to get one, I will buy the fold away one. Just the thought of having to drive it down the road with that ugly plate up front ticks me off. There should not be a need for 2 plates.

The police like the second plate up front, so that they have a nice and shiny reflector for their laser.
