Is there anything that comes close to it for a reasonable budget?

i guess the ctsv/zl1 front upgrade would be another way to go if your wheel and tires can fit them...dont know if thats reasonable budget tho. they add more weight and more heat tho so its apples to oranges comparison

Racingbrakes are about $500 a rotor.
Oem SS Brembo are about $100 a rotor.
Somewhere in the middle...

actually the stock CTS-V package doesnt add a whole lot of weight. with the two piece rotor option i think it is the same as stock or a lil less. im all for weight savings and i almost went with the RB route for that reason. i ended up going with the CTS-V package and its not an upgrade, its a different car. the guys that pull me two car lengths on the straight give up four car lengths on the brakes. it will do it lap after lap with no fade. the confidence of being able to drive deep and know its going to stop is worth the price of the upgrade. the surface area of the pad is twice what the stock pads are. oem pads on the ctsv are better with less fade than race pads on the stock setup.
if you run long tracks with heavy braking you will be happy with the CTS-V package. if you only do short tracks or autocross that dont build up lots of heat, then the stock setup with the RB rotors and racing pads would be good. just my opinion from my own experience. im not a rocket scientist or anything.

I plan on doing the CTS-V set-up as well for my 1LE. I have the RB rotors on my stock calipers with Hawk HP plus pads and they have been good but I like the idea of the extra sound power and no need to swap pads. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the stock CTS pads on the track.

street pads on track days didnt work for me...i push it and also out brake everything. had to do real track pads for track days...the street pads couldnt deal with the heat and fell apart.
anyways the thread in the op has been updated with a lot more new info. even if i were to upgrade to six pots i would sill go RacingBrake

ill put the DTC 30 pads on there for VIR for obvious reasons but the OEM pads are fine for tracks that dont melt brakes. the pad size is so much bigger on the CTS-V that it just doesnt build much heat. im sure VIR will get them hot but the cost savings of being able to run 60 dollar pads and still have killer brakes most of the year will pay for the upgrade over slapping 200 dollar pads on for every event.
VIR was scary on the stock rotor/caliper setup. i was pulling up on the steering wheel to help put more pressure on the pedal and the thang just wouldnt stop. the pads were so hot and gooey that the ABS wasnt even working.

Following this tread, I've check all avenues for the replacement of my front rotors and bought EBC 3GD Black Sport Brake #GD7520 for less then $300 the pair. (

I will let you guys know what they are worth on the track in a couple of weeks...
