Bought my first Camaro in August of 1996. I swore that I would own one before I turned 21 and I bought it 3 months after my 20th birthday. This car was pretty much destined to be mine (or so it would seem). Got off of work and saw it sitting on the Lemon Lot (For sale lot on base) and the asking price was "payoff" Figuring this car was a 1995 model in 1996, I didn't think payoff would be that cheap, but decided to call anyways. Found out the guy only owed a little over 14k for the car, told him I was on my way to the base credit union as soon as I got off the phone. Car put on lot on Monday, it was officially mine on Thursday. When I finally bought the car, he told me that I was the only one that had called him about the car. More than likely "payoff" scared some people away thinking he owed quite a bit more on the car. Bought in August 1996, still owned by me to this day.
I actually have the original bill of sale that the guy got when he bought the car too, his original sticker price was a little over 18k for the car, so when I bought it, he pretty much had taken care of the depreciation for me.
