Here is a little information on the famous Kool April Nite’s, April 20th Friday night cruise.
Every year hundreds of the coolest cars around
converge
on Redding California for the show of the year. Friday night half of Redding is roped off for the annual cruise. 2 hours of exhaust fumes squealing tires and the rumble of souped up engines.
Music, food and thousands of spectators lining the streets around the cruise route add to this list of items that make this an unforgettable night of entertainment. The evening ends with the "50s Dance" near the civic auditorium.
Last year between 10,000-15,000 people turned out to watch Friday's cruise, where approximately 1,800 cars participated. The event continues to illustrate the fact that California remains a huge hotbed for auto enthusiasts. I'm sure much of this passion reflects our sense of the car being a symbol of freedom.

This event is huge. Bring your lawn chair, munchies and favorite beverage and be prepared to smell rubber burning and high octane fuel. A great experience for the whole family!

Hey Chris,
When we left Grocery Outlet on Sunday, it was found that there is no outlet (he he - Pun intended here) from the back of the parking lot or surrounding streets. The only way in or out is from Churn Creek Rd. This will pose a problem for those who show up late after they close the street or wants to leave early before the cruise is over.
Suggestions?

All right, just got off the phone with Ron at the store, he varified that there is no way to drive close to the store after the streets are blocked. He did suggest that if we still want to watch from that area that we park by Safeway or Lowes and walk over. I think you said Safeway was not good cause they pitch a fit. Not sure about Lowes though. From the Lowes parking lot you can walk behind Safeway and in front of the post office to get to where we were in front of the store the other day.
Option #2
We could disregard all earlier plans and just park over by the mall, target Costco area. But I'm figuring we will have a heck of a time looking for a spot for all of us to hang out.
I'm good with either choice, let me know what you think and we can go with it.

Chris,
I would bet that we will have a hard time finding one another in the sea of 15K plus spectators. Since we are the only ones so far going (you and I), maybe it is best just to wing-it. If we find each other great, otherwise don't sweat it. Finding a parking spot is tough enough let alone trying to find each other. Brenda works on the West side of town and she is going to have a tough time finding me at 5:30. I think I am going to travel up from the south and where ever I find a good place, that's where I will park and walk in from there. Brenda will have to come look for me. It's a madhouse (spoken from experience) but worth it. Best if you can get there early.
Your kids are going to love watching all the cars driving in the cruise.
Too bad Garrett can't make it.
We will try to make our way towards Grocery Outlet but If we can't, Enjoy the show!

We will bring the camera and ill let Tyler take all the pictures he wants. Hopefully we will get some good shots. Jesse and Tina, not sure if you're planning on watching the cruise but if you are im still going to try the grocery outlet parking lot, seems like a good place to watch from. Besides if the employees leave before the road closes I might have a chance of snagging a parking space or two.

Not sure if Jesse and I will make it to the cruise this year. Jesse will be getting home from a trip to Oregon about 5:30/6:00, that's cutting it to close to be able to get over there. We will be at the car show on Saturday, going early about 9:00 am.
People are already saving spots around the cruise area and it's only Thursday. Just to let you know that Dutch Bros coffee next to the Grocery Outlet is having a bunch of stuff going on in their parking area during the cruise, it's going to be crazy. You may want to park at Lowe's or the K-mart/99 Cent store area's and walk over to the cruise, they both have several exit area's too.
Have a great time, the cruise is lots of fun.
