How does the HK compare to other AR's you've shot?

That's actually a .22 I bought for my kids. It's an HK authorized replica of the 416 built by Walther and imported by a company called Umarex. It's actually built really solid, and is fun to shoot.

I'll take more pics later of my arsenal; but I'm really into BMFG's

I have over 100+ in my collection. I have several full autos, etc...

Two of my Barrett's M107 (camo one just got back from gunsmith)

But if 1 got "left accidentally" in the trunk of V1, it would be ok when I win to keep it, right? ;-)

One of my new up and coming toys. If all goes right on the time table, it should be gracing my gun safe in about 16 weeks. Other than a European manufacturer who started making these a couple of years ago, this rifle has not been manufactured for about 67 years. An original would be worth the price of a house. Mine will look exactly like the one in the background with the white trigger and white gas block.

Any of my Gen 5 Camaro brethren know what it is? :D

anyone into the long range shooting for distance stuff. iv seen several combat oriented and pistol stuff, but hardly any of the long range target rifles. im considering building one on a Remington 700 action in either a .223 or a .308. im considering the .308 more then anything since its got a good selection of varying rounds to pick from as the good performance it has at the 600+ distances.

That's definitely what I'd like to do next. I already have the .223, but I'd like to add a .308.

i enjoy the shooting for distance target shooting. theres a lot more challenge trying to hit a single target say 800 yards out trying to compensate for wind and drop. hardest part is keeping things steady and judging that wind speed. if your off by just one mph it could be the difference of going from dead center to being 10 inches off.

i have been doing a fair bit of reading, Remington series 700 had a fair amount of aftermarket parts that are easily obtainable. would work well for me i hate having to try and find someone to make a custom part because its not provided. some things i can handle and make in my own shop but others i just dont have the precision tools.

I wouldn't bother with the 308 myself. It's BC is terrible and begins to severely slack off past 500 yards. This is the reason why I built my gun on the 6.5 Grendel round as it has better BC at long range and is better at 800-1,000 than the 308. Only downside is at that range the 6.5 Grendel doesn't have as much kinetic energy as the 308.

If you really want a long range gun look into 260 rem or 7mm.
