My car was in quality control for that same part and get this they shipped it accidentily without it and they had to expedite the part to the dealership and finalize the quality control inspection at the dealership. I complained so much after 8 weeks sitting in quality control that someone shipped it accidentily. I haven'thad any problems in the 4 days I've had the car for now.

specngr 06-06-2009 11:12 PM

My dealer called me yesterday to check out their 1LT CGM, car had 7 miles on it and both plastic covers were popped off. I guess its normal.

Look to see if whatever it uses for retention is broken or damaged.

You probably need the dealer to order you a new set of them.

KJS 06-07-2009 03:30 AM

don't screw around with this guys

if you decide to 'fix' thus yourself you may be affecting the side curtin airbag, let the dealer do it.

I am expecting to take delivery of #8575 on Wednesday. I will keep a close eye on both inside windshield pillar covers.

Nine Ball 06-07-2009 06:52 AM

My driver's side A-pillar cover pops loose occasionally. I just snap it back in. It has happened twice in a week. Next time I'll pull it off and see what isn't working.

aberg 06-07-2009 07:06 AM

So far no problem with mine. I've had mine since Wed. but have not driven it alot instead i've had to work.

SGOS252382 06-07-2009 07:13 AM

This is not good news. Another issue to add to the list.

2SSRS@Gen5diy 06-07-2009 08:41 AM

There is no air bag on the windshield pillars.

jdanza 06-07-2009 09:53 AM

The A pillar thing sucks.
But it's realitively minor, I was intrested in buying a 2009 G37S ($42k) until I joined their forums and found the drivers side A pillar where it connects to the top of the windshield has a recurring problem, the welded joint cracks after being on the road for a short time. The fix is taking apart the interior of the car and re-welding. This fix seems to last longer for some than others, it produces a cracking / popping sound when the driver hits a bump or the body gets flexed. So I view this Camaro problem as very minor.

mglumske 06-07-2009 09:57 AM

Relax!!!!
My 2SS came with the Driver's side a pillar cover popped loose.
The dealer ordered a replacement clip, which has been RE-DESIGNED, and replaced it.
It took only 2 days to get the part.
Unfortunately, the over reaction is typical for this site.

Are you guys accelerating too quickly that you are leaving the windshield pillars in place?

these new clips you are talking about clip into the pillar correct .because on the plastic cover they are little tabs on it . and hopefully nothing on the dash needs to be removed correct thanks .im only over reacting because that is 2 times that i have to bring it back to the dealer . and time is money .

Yes, but you're lucky enough that your car has already arrived at the dealership.
Little tiny "quick fixes" can take weeks if GM does the fix themselves in QC.

The same exact thing was said about the batter fix "its a quick fix." Then some guys waited 30+ days to get this "quick fix.".

So lets just see how this plays out. And as mentioned there's no reason to panic, but it is a concern if it causes cars to go into a QC holds until they can be fixed.

you are right .i do agree with that ..

GMtothecore 06-07-2009 10:46 AM

just a small problem.....they'll fix it, so don't panic!

LyssaRaen 06-07-2009 11:38 AM

Picked my car up late last week, and I'm noticing the same problem. Plan to talk to the dealer this week about it. I do agree that after having spent so much money, I'd like to think things like this wouldn't happen. But, if its just little stuff like this that I have to deal with on a first year car, I'll be extremely happy.

Hum sunroof or without?

If headroom changes for sunroof do the piller cover sizes have to change? And if so did normal roof in some cases get fitted with shorter sunroof piller covers?

it seems the covers are the correct size but the stud that fits in the hole is to small .need a bigger stud or a smaller hole .to me .or some chewing gum . or a book of matches to wedge in between windshield and cover .

Bell040 06-07-2009 04:44 PM

post pics if possible... looks like this is happening to alot of people.

Vash 06-07-2009 05:14 PM

Maybe some double sided tape like what that dude used for his front plate the other day.

Ctrain24 06-07-2009 05:24 PM

I have the same problem with my car. It pops out on the passenger side when the door is closed or hitting a pothole. Is there any fix for this? I would take it to my dealer but they're 400 miles away.

they said they made new clips i just hope they can pull this piece up from the dash with out taking the dash off .i need to see a picture of this new clip. other wise i would think they will use 3m tape .these guys at dealers will do anything so you dont come back .to break balls . and trust me i am one of those guys . and yes ive seen dealers use it first hand

Aeroexec 06-07-2009 08:24 PM

I have the same problem. Just randomly pops off. Just got the car up to 142MPH and it stayed intact. Later going 35 mph and it popped off.

Go figure!

Yes, please! I have no idea what these clips are that you're describing and would like to know what to look for. Since I have the mis-aligned dash/door panel issue, it would not surprise me if there are others I've missed.

csjrishere 06-08-2009 08:15 AM

My passenger side popped loose and I just popped it back into place. It only happened the one time so far.

MontyCarlo 06-08-2009 11:08 AM

Little things like this make me glad mine's not built yet.

TomServo 06-08-2009 11:22 AM

As we were leaving the dealer after my son took delivery last Friday afternoon and I was riding shotgun, I noticed the a-pillar trim was not seated. So I tried several times over the couse of the next two days w/o joy.

Yesterday my son noticed it had popped free again and gave it a pretty good WHACK. So far it has held but I doubt it's FIXED and eventually it'll pop free again.

This is my son's first new car and has saved for years to buy something like this (to include all of his combat pay from his tours in Iraq and Afgahistan).

I hope this is the last of the teething pains he's had to endure with his SS.

Vash 06-08-2009 11:25 AM

Can you guys take some measurements. The ones popping out are they sunroof or normal?

greenrail 06-08-2009 01:28 PM

Check out the photo in this thread:

Not a huge issue, just frustrating. Dealer should handle under warranty repair.
