Mods for a good 1/4 mile?

So I have just started to go to the strip on Friday nights for test n tune, now Saturdays for grudge wars. I want to know what mods I should do to get my car running better. no forced induction. but maybe gears? nitrous? drag radials? what else?

Supercharged SS 09-07-2013 09:15 AM

I've heard some people say that a 3.91 gear won't help anything.. what would it help? and what kind of drag radials do you suggest?

What do you have so far?

headers, exhaust, tires and nitrous would be a good start

How much money are you willing to spend?

christianchevell 09-07-2013 11:07 AM

ss mod, zl1 mod, CAI, quantum capacitor with 9.7 gigawatt imploder.

Yes gears get it to the ground and make a real seat of the pants feeling as you go fast quicker and do you know your gear ratio? DO you have a automatic or a stick? These things matter, and then there are different things to be considered v-6 vs v-8 and if a new throttle body would help, and other various items and next thing you know you have thousands dumped into a v-6 and if that's what floats your boat.......

And of course money always matters..........

I want to do the same as you but without touching the motor. I'm going with some suspension work, slicks w/skinnies up front, and a tune. I hope to be in the mid 12s with those mods.

If you guys are looking to add some power and reduce those E.T.s with some bolt ons we can help. One of the best mods right off the bat is a set of long tube headers. They add real deal power even to the V6 cars. Sticky tires and long tubes are a great start.

Unfortunately the OP can't do headers. He's got the LFX so he's pretty limited in the bolt ons. High flow cats will probably provide him some gains, and the intake manifold setup RacnJasn is working on will probably get him some more torque down low. Other than that, he's going to have to tune it to see any real gains.
