paint problem

OK so I have had my Camaro for a few weeks and already found that the paint is coming off on the rear bumper in the seam where it is next to the quarter panel. I am positive that this is covered under warranty, but that is besides the point. I am paying alot of money for this car it should have no paint problems. Make sure you guys look everywhere for this. Hopefully I am the only one with this problem. I am guessing they are going to have to do the whole rear bumper. I am not settling for no touch up bull crap.

Who drives it besides you? Someone may have rubbed/bumped something.

kutch720 06-13-2009 03:11 PM

Here are some pics. Nobody else drive the car but me. They all want to but it is not going to happen. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...613091555a.jpg

Youre not gonna get away from orange peel. The paint they use on todays metal its gonna happen. Its on most corvettes even zr1s.

kutch720 06-13-2009 03:22 PM

It is not orange peel. The paint is coming off. If you look in the crease you can see that it is black in there. That is where the paint is gone. Nothing there.

i would say they are all orange peel i know mine is .i got abm all orange peel when my car was delivered with a scratch on it the body shop guy did not want to wet sand because it would have left a flat spot .thats what he told me

That isnt a paint problem. Its a panel misalignment problem. A few of the new Malibus have the same problem on the front bumper.

Its completely covered under warranty. Just take it in and they will get it fixed.

I think "orange peel" would look great on an IOM car. Maybe I'll get license plates that say ORNGPEEL.

Hey so anyway kutch, I can't see anything in that picture. Try getting the camera to focus on the problem instead of the houses behind you reflecting in the paint. Maybe set it to 'macro' with the little tulip flower icon on the camera.

kutch720 06-13-2009 08:26 PM

OK I will try and get another picture on here. kinda hard to get a good angle on it. The paint that is missing is in the crease. I can see maybe an alignment problem but hopefully they took a liitle more time fitting the camaro a little better than the malibu. I am taking it up to the dealer on Monday and they said they are going to try and get a GM rep up there so they can look at it and fix it asap. Hopefully things go smoothly.
