Winter Wheels On 2SS

I've done some searching and I don't think I've found what I'm looking for. I'm fairly clueless with wheels and tires so any help you can provide would be great.

I'm currently looking for a set of wheels and tires for the winters here in Colorado on my 2SS LS3. I have no intention of driving in a blizzard, but I also don't think I can go back to driving my Mazda6 all winter long. I'm just looking for a good set of wheels with a nice all season tire. I'm not looking for huge, expensive wheels and I am not looking for a studded winter tire. I have a couple of questions.
  • Does anyone have any recommendations for a good tire?
  • Is it necessary to go with at 20s or can I go with 19s on the 2SS?
  • I'm thinking that the tires on the 19s may be less expensive. Is correct thinking?
  • Is it necessary to go with a staggered set or can I go with the same width wheel on all 4?

On prior thread/posts some said the Continental winter tire was the best. That's what I'm putting on my SS's extra wheels this fall. I don't drive when the roads are crappy but even when dry this Camaro is a bear below 35 degrees. Back in March I was quoted $1305.00 for 4 Continantal extreme contact DWS tires. Not sure, they may be cheaper now.

The Camaro 2SS that I have on order will be my year-round daily driver here in South Dakota so it will have to be shod with all-weather tires. I bought the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires and have them sitting in my garage........waiting for the car. Right now these tires are fairly hard to find. Tire Rack had 7 of the 245/45 fronts in stock and none of the 275/40 rears so I purchased the fronts from them. I purchased the rear tires from another online company that had roughly 200 in stock (nation-wide) but had no fronts. After I put the DWSs on the Camaro I'll sell the OEM P Zeros on eBay. I put DWSs on my Passat one month ago and really like them so far. They're quieter than the OEMs the car came with.

I hear you. My Passat 3.6L has quite a bit of HP (280 HP to be exact) but it remains to be seen how the DWS's will handle the 426 HP of the Camaro. It seems like I came across at least one other person in these forums that had the DWS's on their Camaro and really liked them -- even in snow. I should do a search.
