2006 gt?

so i have a camaro last time i ran a 14.3 as my fastest with some lean problems.... and 3.42s so trapping in second and starting off well before the power band
going back in may and my friend might take his 2006 gt

i now have gotten the lean problem fixed, 4.56s with posi i did spin a little before installed and a better exhaust installed and hoping to go low to mid 13s with kinda newb driver(myself) and the other being newbish himself lol

anyone think i can give it a good run for the money, i dont plan on blowing the doors off but i still think it would be a good race

Do you own an SS?

76z28 04-08-2010 11:34 PM

no, 75 type lt z28 with

flat topped single sided valve relief pistons
trick flow 195 heads at 62cc so its around 10.7:1 compresssion
3000 stall converter
got rid of quite a bit of weight such as air and all that, jack, spare tire, weight of heads, wind shield wipers
turbo 350 with 4.56 posi
cam is 246/254 duration at .050 and .495 lift and .510 lift
both intake first and exhaust second

I saw that in your profile thing but I was thinking 14.3 was 2010 V6 Camaro times lol. Then I saw you talking about modifications, so then I thought you might have had a SS that you ran in bad weather conditions lol.

If I remember correctly, the 05-09 GTs usually run around high 13s. So, it seems like you'd be able to take him if the GT is stock. Has your friend done any modifications of his own?

The 05-09 gts are good for 13.5 to 13.6 quarter miles, with as good as 13.3x if the driver is excellent (glory pass was 13.28), with that said you shouldn't have a problem taking him, I'd say you could get low low 13's out of that car.

Most out on the track will be running 13.8-15.0~ Best GT time I've ever seen on the track was a 13.7 by a 2006 GT with slicks.

no way a 2006 gt ran a 15....

False, You must have a horrible da and high altitude. Get to the track more, mustang gt's are solid mid 13 second cars, not far behind your l99 camaro.

Been out on the track 4 straight weekends. GT's are not running all that well. The best GT run I've seen out at the track is a 13.7.

Then again, finding people with regular street cars who know how to shift at the track is pretty rare.

Good point, but a lot of the tracks are also seeing camaro's running slow times too, and vettes, and gt500. Average times for competent driver (I do not fall into that category at the track) are mid 13's.

I by all means agree. Just remember, there's a time you SHOULD run and a time you ACTUALLY run. My best time has been a 13.4 when I should be running 13.0-13.2. Just saying.

Also, you're right. At the track on friday a GT500 was running 13.9 lol and a z06 was running 12.9. Was pretty funny how I beat a GT500, even though the guy clearly had NO idea how to shift.

I've seen ZO6s and Vipers in the 14s. Definitely hysterical shit.

I think my laugh of the year goes to a Acura RSX with the license plate BOOSTED and a high wing spoiler running 20.5~
