Cold Air Induction Test for ALL aftermarket System??

There has been soo much talk about all the different Cold Air Induction Systems starting to hit the market. I myself (Late Model Racecraft) am willing to get a magazine company involved and actually due Dyno tests and track results of every aftermarket Cold Air Induction System on the market for everyone to be able to see un biased results. Any other vendor that wants in on this just let me know and I will try and make it happen. This way we will use ONE car for the test. That way every CAI out their will be tested with the same vehicle, on the same day, in the same temperatures, and on the same dyno and track. What does everyone think about that?

Great idea. You should contact GM High Tech Performance. Id bet they jump all over this.

Will the other vendors be able to be present to ensure the tests are being conducted... what's the word, here?.... precisely?

GREAT IDEA!!! I think it's going to really give everyone a great understanding of what the differences are between all the kits out there.

Test info should include price, appearance, ease of installation, material made of, weight, intake air temps, heat soak temps, performance, sound levels. And all of this without a custom tune; just bolt on and these are the results.

Thats great. Maybe once all is said and done, I will get one and show it off in the GM High Tech Magazine photo shoot of my car.. :)

over at the lxforums, some members donated their car and time to do a test of various products. the speed shop provided the dyno for the day and manufactures sent their products...from cai, cams, headers, etc...to test. the members donated their time to install and some donated money to test they compiled a list of different products and results...

they even had a live stream of the test

here were some results...

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=141740

here they had track time to compare

I'd pay $7 for that mag. Somehow I think i'd get the article here cheaper though.

Great Idea, I think the testing should be done by a shop that does not make their own induction system though, just to keep it neutral.

I want to see 1/4 runs with these sytems, not dyno runs. Use the same driver and do some before and after 1/4 runs. This is all that matters.

Too many variables.

The same driver with the same car 5 minutes apart will have different times. Impossible to tell whether it was the intake.

There are still variables on a dyno but no where near as much as the track.
