2011 "American Pride" Camaro to Debut in Ohio on Sept 11

A special one-of-a-kind expression of the new Chevrolet Camaro will debut publicly this Saturday, September 11 at the Northeast Ohio Camaro Club's annual Fall Classic event.. The 2011 "American Pride" Camaro features an artistic representation of the history of American freedom in a custom airbrushed paint treatment. A tribute to American history and heroes, including artistic depictions of military servicemen and women and US Presidents, the incredibly detailed design makes this special Camaro a unique showpiece. The car will tour major events nationwide over the next year, starting with its debut in Tallmadge, Ohio this weekend where Ohio Camaro fans will be the first to see it.

The "American Pride" Camaro is the result of the artistry and enthusiasm of Mountain Muscle Cars in Cosby, Tenn. Artists and craftsmen at Mountain Muscle Cars, inspired by Camaro's design and their own patriotism, painstakingly prepared the car in recent weeks. U.S. Congressmen Phil Roe of Tennessee was so taken with the car's inspiration and design that he donated an American flag to join the car's nationwide display. That flag will fly over the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., to commemorate military service men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

This unique Camaro will appear at many Chevrolet events and displays, also, and will be used to promote the brand's Military Discount Program. A special Camaro with an American military theme has traveled the country in a similar fashion over the past year [thespymaster's Veteran 1 Camaro], and will be sold at an upcoming Barrett-Jackson car auction with the proceeds going to a military charity. The new 2011 American Pride Camaro will see similar duty over the next year.

Another addition for me for the Military Heroes theme, is my new Sierra truck, that will be done in a similiar fashion to Veteran 1. Since it will be truck towning Veteran 1 to various events in the USA.

At some point I will start a new thread that gives a 'tour' of the "American Pride" Camaro.

First off: this Camaro has been made possible by Mountain Muscle Cars and Mickey Harris -- who painted every scene by freehand -- there were no 'sketches' on the car, rather, he did every picture using an airbrush and either referenced photographs or created the scene from his mind's eye........

-- it is truly a stunning work of art and no photographs can possibly do the artwork justice........

The "Story" of America starts at the rear most section of the rear quarter-panel....with George Washington crossing the delaware....and progresses thru the War of 1812, the Civil War - -World War One and Two - -the Korean War, Vietnam, and of course the gulf/mideast war.

Each 'picture' has incredible detail and tells a story by just looking at those details.......

.....the ones that struck me most:

>A soldier returning home - in the distance you see his house and a little girl running to meet him.....

>Arlington National Cemetery (on the decklid) -- where a soldier who has just been killed is being greeted by the 'ghosts' of so many others who went before him......

>A representation of the U.S. Constitution (We the People..) with an eagle looking right at you.......

I thank Greg Fodness for keeping me up-to-date -- from the time we shipped a new SS/RS to them in Tennessee - until he met everyone yesterday in Ohio - and gave the crowd a 'walk-around' -- explaining the scenes and how the car was painted and finished.....

I'm hopeful that each of you will have an opportunity to see this magnificent work of art in the next year.

I'll post a list of autoshows where it will appear in the near future......

SovietSteel 09-13-2010 11:45 AM

If anyone is interested, a walkaround video that I shot yesterday at the debut in Ohio.
