Don't belong on a 4th Gen RS Camaro.

Buick portholes don't belong on anything but Buicks.

Angrybird 12 06-04-2011 03:47 PM

Actually they only belong on Buicks, on ANYTHING else they look stupid.:yikes:

FenwickHockey65 06-04-2011 03:54 PM

The dumb part is that even Buick is moving away from that style of portholes...the new ones are hood mounted.

Regal's getting a set when production starts in Oshawa for the 2012 MY, as is Verano.

Best part is I can come up with some justifications for this guy. First this is the L36 which, of course is a 3.8L. As we all know the 3.8L V6 was a Buick developed engine with the claim to fame being the Grand National. Also the 3 vents on each side is actually correct for a V6, there could be four to a side for V8 instead.

I bet they work better than the hood scoops.

Originally it corresponded with trim levels, 3 vents was a lower trim level, 4 vents was the top trim level.

Then when Buick released the Lucerne, they made it correspond with engine size, 3.8L models had 3, Northstar-equipped models had 4. LaCrosse Super followed suit.

Now it's just pretty much gone to hell. LaCrosse comes standard with a 2.4L eAssist I-4 or a 3.6L V6 and either engine choice gives you 3 portholes. Regal comes standard with a 2.4L I-4 or an optional 2.4L eAssist I-4, 2.0T, and 2.0T High Output and has the correct number of portholes, 2. Then Verano has a 2.4L I-4 or 2.0T and has 3.

Maybe the owner likes Buicks so much that he must adorn all of his vehicles in a like manner; it's a compulsion, perhaps...

I agree, that they don't make much sense on a Camaro. However, for some reason, this is fairly common on 4th gen V6 Camaros. I see this all the time in may area.

Beat me to it! I've seen so many shit-boxes with those on, and I just laugh and shake my head, then continue on my way!

"Dude! Did you hear about the $50 paint job? Yeah man...You can totally use paint you buy and homedepot and roll it on! Yeah totally! You have to wet sand it, but there are like...lots of colors available! It's rustoleom man! It'll last forever! Maybe we can even do some stripes! I mean it's only another $10 for a can right? Sweet, so this weekend, my garage, and pick up some of them sticky fender things from Pep Boys on your way over...Yeah...The chrome ones. Classy is where it's at!"

Are they similar to "speed holes"?
