Is this normal? Gap in Dash Trim around gauge

I just noticed this today. The car is practically brand new. The black molding of the dash feels hard and solid (not warped) but I can (with a little pressure) push the silver accent piece closer, but nothing clips or holds it in at all. Is this normal?

Mine is flush and it's a 2013

I have the exact same issue. Turned out the part the retaining tab (one on the speedometer) locked into on the dash had broken off.

And the dash is one solid piece, so only way to fix it would be to get a new dash or McGyver it.

Warranty? Take it in. Let them fix it. Unless you don't trust them to do it right.

Exactly. I wouldn't even attempt to remove the bezel to look. Take no chances on them blaming you.

Looks like the car is going to the dealer... *sigh*

Mine was like that when I put it back on after taking it off to do my ABL installation. Turns out all I needed to do was readjust it. One of the clips wasn't going in right But if you haven't touched it, take it to the dealer. Just in case something might be broken

Yea unfortunately if the tab part on the dash is broken the only fix is to replace the dash.

NoleLife 04-18-2013 10:46 PM

Well, if they have to replace the whole dash, and I plan on doing it eventually, then it would make sense to still do it while I have my bumper-bumper warranty. I am assuming that doing it after it is expired would be several thousand dollars?

My biggest concern, as ICT said above, is that replacing the dash to fix this one small aesthetic issue will cause other problems/rattling later on.

I just took mine out of storage for a quick spin last week (had been parked since November) when the weather was kind of decent and I had some time. Bang, bezel is just starting to pull away, 355 miles. NOT happy.
