Cam for the camaro ZL1

Which is the best cam for the camaro ZL1 ? I heard from my friend that the gt9 cam is from the best cams What do you think ?

I will probably end up running the BTR stage 3 or a custom grind similar to those specs

Call JDP for their ZL1 blower cam!

There are quite a few good cams for the LSA. There is no "best" cam.
It really just depends on what you want.
Nice, broad flat torque curve? Stock like drivability with some more power at all rpms? Nasty lope and big power, and can accept the trade off that goes along with it?

I've got the GT9 and the drivability is near stock. I love the low end torque of the BTR cam.

I would read up on brian tooley racing. seem to be offering a good mix of power and drive-ability.

I have been running the FSP blower cam for over 20,000 miles. Love it! Making over 700 whp on my daily driver.

I would definitely search here and on some CTS-V forums, A LOT of good info. I'm going with the BTR stage 3, for my needs it works plus BTR is local to me and I try to support local. I spoke to them several times and they're very helpful, one thing about their cam its not real harsh on the valvetrain.

I have the Brian Tooley Racing stage III cam in my ZL1

sooo many good cams out there....Honestly all you will get from this topic is what everyone is currently running in their car and what is working for them. All the sponsors on the site will push their own brand cam. Unless there was a way to get every cam available put in the same car and ran on the same Dyno on the same day, its kinda hard to tell. I would just go with a quality company that has had good success with their product and is backed by tons of happy customers. I currently have a Texas Speed LS3-B blower cam...It has a great sound and makes good power (about 57 more then stock). I would NOT get Texas Speed's PRC spring kit...They have had a reputation for breaking springs. If I had it to do all over again, I would go with the Brian Tooley Stage 3 cam and springs. The quality is 2nd to none I think. The GT9 cam you are talking about (I believe) is Lingenfelter's cam. It has been tested and a proven performer. My dad has that cam in his LPE700 package and it sounds bone stock. I love the lope, so I went with a rough idle cam.

Depends on what you have done to your engine so far. A cam swap is where you have reached bolt on max and now dabbling in engine tear down goodies for serious HP/TQ. Do you plan on doing head work to maximize the cam if its an extremely lumpy one? Or are you after a cam that that just pushes the stock heads. Trade off's abound in the cam world for peak performance but generally speaking more lift more duration generally gives you more power. Don't forget SC engines have their own perimeters for peak performance in cams. A bitch-en NA cam will not be that hot in A SC engine and vise verse.

So for a willy nilly lets throw something in that's fun I would go straight to the cams that are dyno proven kits from name brand companies as James said. All this opens up a can of progressive worms. If you have your heads off to change springs etc. you might as well have them ported then after that your heads will want more cam than what you got and its back to finding another cam.

Lingenfelter GT 12. Sounds unreal and drives perfect... Starkweather performance just put it in....
