Transmission Fluid Temp Gauge

What is this gauge used for on the sticks? Is it just missing?

MRSBMCS 02-28-2009 05:59 PM

Unless you are towing with your camaro, you really don't need it. If I understand it right, even with an automatic. It's just for looks?

MrGazinya 02-28-2009 06:01 PM

Probably the differential temp:iono:

well, not completely for looks. for most, yeah, its just looks, but for some of us who will be modifying the engine and transmission, its a nice little piece to have. (instead of hacking up an A-pillar to fit a custom gauge in)

So, back to the actual question . . . .

manuals don't have transmission fluid

SRFnSNO 02-28-2009 06:11 PM

Yes; the A Piller is for Boost Gauge and a Wide Band sensor

MRSBMCS 02-28-2009 06:36 PM

Unless they've changed something, they all have transmission fluid.

Trans temp is great in autos that are really being pushed.
:w00t:
A trans pressure gauge would have been neat for autos. I'd prefer the original idea of the torque meter.

in a manual transmission, gear oil still acts in the same capacity as ATF does for an auto. it lubricates and cools the internals

as for the gauge in a manual, i'd rather have the torque gauge back, so long as it read more than 300 like the ones in the V6s we saw

Yeah - I'd rock one of those, at about 400 ft. lbs. or so. Makes me wonder - is that torque as measured at the flywheel or at the wheels?

Baring that, I'm hoping the aftermarket comes out with a good A/F ratio gauge to fit the four-pack.
