Camaro Families
I always knew Camaro5 was about family, and this trip proved it again... My wife and I made a mini vacation out of my return drive from a class in Gillette Wyoming. We drove west across Wyoming (our plan to meet up with a Cody Wyoming owner got put on hold due to priorities, but I would love to come back up and eat at the Irma Hotel Resturant again... So maybe in the future Wyoming T/A... Hope your car arrived)...and then South through Yellowstone part of Utah, into Colorado, and on down into New Mexico... I had the pleasure of meeting IceCreamguys in Rock Springs Wyoming. Andrew, it was a pleasure, and you are welcme any time you make it to Texas near Austin... I promise there wont be any Camaros running from you... We have a regular Friday Night Family meeting in San Antonio, 12-18 Camaro's is a regular night......We also had the fortune to meet up with SSRS2010 and his wife whom I had met in Austin several months earlier. The second day there, we went to brunch at an amazing 150+ year old mexican food resturant, and then headed out to the White Sands National Monument... Wow, Just Wow, Good People, Good Food, Good Scenes, Good Times.... Pat and Debbie, our doors are always open...and you are always welcome...Robert
The drive from Montrose Colorado to Las Cruces was amazing. We started out with an 11,009 foot pass (Red Mountain Passif I'm not mistaken) and then another pass close to or right at 11,000 feet above sea level... The car still ran well despite the altitude. I wouldn't want to dyno it but it was still responsive. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 Debbie was gracious enough to remove her Mitsubishi from the garage to allow Brandi to park in the comfort next to her new best friend. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 Reflections of a Chevrolet http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 The run out to White Sands allowed time for the Incredible lunch to settle. We passed the White Sands Missle Test Range on the way to the White Sands Muscle Test Range The donuts are easy on the driver and even easier on the drive train and since we were over 700 miles from home, I wasn't looking for any broken axles... This was my wifes first experience in a muscle car doing a donut... I told her to hold on, dumped it and among the howling of the engine, the roar of the exhaust, I hear this hysterical giggling coming from the passenger seat... uhhhmmmmmm... she is hooked... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 Here is an awesome image to frame... If I could only fit the other Camaro on my wall.... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 I come around a corner and there's this Camaro blocking the road... ohhh, I get it photo op.... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 As always, pink pig was keeping a watchful eye out with me... Pink Pig now has a cumulative 450,000 miles or so in four vehicles... She Loves the Camaro the most but has one gripe... In no other vehicle has she ever slid off the dash.... Now she flies off backwards and ends up in the back seat...Pisses her off when she can't see out... I guess now via her explanations, I understand the problems seeing out of a Camaro if you not in the drivers seat... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 Adding man made beauty to the natural beauty of White Sands National Monument... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 Pink Pig took a much needed break after eating all the donuts, and tried some dune sliding... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1274903765 |

When I get it all together, I'll be posting a few more photos of the whole trip, but this was awesome... 4000 miles Rocky mountains, blowing snow, blowing geysers, desert southwest, 11,009 feet above sea level to 755 feet underground at Carlsbad, etc.... I'ld do it again tomorrow if time allowed for it, but I gotta head back to Brazil in a week or so... |
Gotta hand it to you guys who live out there and like it...I lived on post at WSMR for a bit and couldnt wait to get outa that place. Keep them cars inside during those freak hail/wind storms...Crazy weather out that way.

Dohhhh..... I explained that my wife bought it for me and Pink Pig goes everywhere with me...He thought it was pretty cool after the explanation... My wife and I were disappointed that we forgot to take her into Carlsbad Caverns with us.... It's funny the people I meet from the forum, NoucantDriveIt for example, (though I haven't met her in person yet, still looking forward to that), that know my car by that Pink Pig... |
