hillbilly arm drop drags . zl1 is driven by a girl. she ran low 10's on a conservative tune. but this is a unprepped track . im on street tires . shes on a slick.

rtcat600man 06-30-2013 08:58 AM

slicks + unprepped tracck = uh oh.

dekan513 06-30-2013 09:04 AM

yea there a bump at the end i think thats what help break it loose.

DarkneSS 06-30-2013 11:23 AM

Damn she should have had sense enough to let off after it first broke loose, she really wanted to win I guess.

Bias ply slicks in the rear with the stock radials in the front is a bad idea.

cvp33 06-30-2013 12:49 PM

Could've been WAY worse. Luckily the car didn't "bite" on the grass and get sideways.

dekan513 06-30-2013 01:23 PM

she drove it pretty good i thought . the video dont tell the whole tell. that 100% unprepped track. very bumpy too. i mean im sure it could of been saved but she said she would rather hit the wall then me. i can see that too as i would of done the same.
that car is a f in beast tho. when they turn it up look for it to be close to the fastest zl1 yet.

dekan513 06-30-2013 01:27 PM

as u can see at the start i pull up and tell the arm drop guy to let me go solo . cause i knew she wanted a test pass. u can see him shake his head no. so it was down hill from there. first pass on those tires ever. she just started racing as she has been racing a gullwing for a while. but like the camaros and got a zl1 to make her a car to mess around with. they just laughed it up and was like oh well . but they are good ppl and money no object really . she just didnt want to take the chance on hitting me.

she ran a 10.6 first time ever in that car. but went faster like a 10.3 or something. no bad for first race on a prepped track. i think she just use to that and didnt know how fast that car could get sideways on a unprepped track. but shes learning . shes got some fast ppl helping her.

I think she did an alright job driving it. She should have killed the run when she first got loose but once it started goin I think she did fine(besides hind site is always 20/20). Not much you can do once you hit the grass but she did a good job maintaining enough control to do minimal damage. And If she would have over corrected it would have been her and dekans cars in a lot worst condition. Could have been much worst, and I guess lucky for her money is no object in this.

And since money isn't much of an object for her, tell her to get some bias ply front runners to run with those slicks.

dekan513 06-30-2013 02:33 PM

she still getting use to it . but they got the setup just waiting till they feel she is rdy. great ppl tho. ya i think thats what got her she should have just stayed out of it but like 99% of us that dont happen lol.

We ran my buddy's 4th gen at a 1/2 mile airport event, runways are much more bumpy and have dips, you could hear the engine rev up when he went over a dip.
