Until the new Camaro, there really was no good Chevy. They were all built like crap.

A 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 (450 Gross HP) was a hell of a muscle car! An all original mint car would be very valuable today. However, car for car the new Camaro SS is the better car! I know it will do everything better than the Chevelle did. 40 years of technology makes a difference.

Chevelle SS anyday!!

Really?? What brand has been building quality cars this whole time then...

Chevelle FTW

This was one of the hardest choices I have had to make in years.
My first car was a 69 Chevelle Malibu.
I absolutely love both cars. My license plate shows that.

Camaro down by less than a thousand... :(

No American mfr has built a quality car till recently. Fun to drive...yes. Quality...No. My 65 Barracuda...Rattled like crazy...66 Charger...Great performance...rattled like mad...67 Dart...let's not go there. 70 Ford..Even worse than the Dart. 77 Plymouth...Almost as bad as the Dart...77 Olds...nice riding, as long as you did not try and turn it...or stop. 80 Datsun P/U...Nice truck...87 Honda...Great car...Sold it when I won an 89 Wrangler. Big mistake. 92 Cavalier...2 of them, both rag tops. Fun, but brakes every 10k miles, motor mounts every 35k miles. 99,2000 and 2001 Mustangs...Nice, and fun to drive but tranny problems in all of them. 08 Solstice...worst built car I have ever owned. 2010 Honda and 2010 Camaro...Both completely trouble free.

:facepalm:I'd own a domestic over an import anyway of the week. You have to keep in mind that those old cars weren't designed to handle. They were meant to go in a straight line.

I've been in several imported japanese cars, and they rattle as well.

Uh...do not take this personal but it might have something to do with your choice of rides. Just saying...

One of the benefits of turning 18 in '66:

Owned new: 67, 67 R/AIII, 72 GTOs

Driven new friends cars: 67 SS 396 Chevelle, 67 Chevelle Malibu 327/325 HP, 70 chevelle 327 and 70 hemi Cuda and other M/Cs.

I voted Chevelle because: HARDTOP not a coupe, the cam lope and firing order of those V8s produced such a sound, Hardtop, room for four, trunk would hold a full size spare and an ice chest or two or three and luggage, Hardtop, and with some minor mods you could get decent handling and stopping, Hardtop and they just looked better and did I mention Hardtop.

But will buy a 2012 Camaro because that is what they make now and I do want a M/C that I can drive and drive and take on the beach etc...not another vintage that is good for Sunday. But do wish the Camaro was a Hardtop...what a look that would be...

RaysZL575 08-08-2011 03:38 PM

I own a 2010 ZL-575 camaro, a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 and a 1969 Chevelle SS 396....ive owned alot of chevelles my 2010 Camaro is one of the most powerful, best handling cars and best looking cars ive ever owned ...with that said, the 70 Chevelle 454 is just an ICON of muscle-car greatness so thats my vote. Maybe the Camaro will attain that status someday.

I'm not surprised the Chevelle beat the Camaro. I am very surprised that it's beating the '63 Vette. The poor '36 Suburban has no chance against the '69 Camaro.
