Kind of fitting, this is Talladega weekend, and I'm watching Talladega Nights(although I can't figure out why).
But I think it was the race on May 1, 2005, I could be wrong about the date. Jeff Gordon won even though Earnhardt jr crossed the finish line first. It was a deal where they went under caution, blah blah, and the rules had changed that year.
Anyway, so Jr's fans showed support for him by chucking beer cans and coolers on the track to the point that Gordon couldn't really do a proper victory lap.
But Jr said pass me a beer. He was driving down the track holding his arm out the window as if to catch a beer.
In process of this, I witnessed someone chuck a beer from way up top in the upper deck of the stands and came all the way down the bottom and nailed this little kid, maybe 8 or so, in the head. I'm surprised it didn't knock him out. I guess he was alright, I didn't know him, he could be in a home now for all I know.
