So I wanted to pick up a 4th gen for strip duty and some street so here it is. Going to make a fun track car out of it. 99SS. NBM A4. lt's, ory, hooker catback, lid, mas, diff brace. might be some other stuff but that'd whatt i know for sure. Going to start stripping weight out of it and get some new wheels and seats. I will update as it goes.

That's a sharp looking car already! Good luck with the build

What do you want to get done first (power wise)? Are you going to just try and see how it does with the weight savings as it sits first?

I'm more than happy to help (pending a permission slip from my wife).

I started removing stuff this morning. I plan on running it with weight reduction, drag wheels, and drag seats and getting a baseline. Then probably spray

That would be very cool. I might at least ask you some dumb ass questions in between. I'm pretty rusty on the 4th gen stuff. I had a firehawk in 2000 and a 96 Z28 briefly about 6-7 years ago, but that's it.

I honestly don't know because I don't know what to expect. I spent a little time this morning taking out the easy weight in the back area. Rear seats, spare, jack, divider, both sets of rear speakers. didn't get the belts out yet. Pulling the seats and consol next to remove carpet and pull all the backing off. There will be no radio, ac, airbags, crash bars. Kirkeys will be going back in and running slicks and skinnys. All the emission stuff will be removed. Will put interior panels back in as I want to still have the stockish look to it. probably do some lightweight pieces afterwords (k-member, suspension, etc) but will spend money on power before spending a bunch on a few pounds

OK here's the update. Stripped it to bare floor so I could remove the sound deadner off the carpet (15 pounds worth). Weighed all the stuff not going back on and so far I've dropped 171 pounds off it. This does include the seats so I can figure 35ish pounds back on for the kirkeys. There's alot more weight to come out, but so far I'm happy. Also picked up a NIB set of summit pro star clones from craigslist last night for a nice price. Deciding on tires but can't wait for the improvement on looks and weight from the 18's that are on it now. More to come

That's coming along very nicely.

I look forward to it because I am compairing to myself the
difference in times between A4 and M6 LSX cars to help
decide what transmission A4 or M6 will be right for me.
The best of luck out there and as always be safe. :)

Worked on the car this morning. Front end weight redux. So far I have 321 pounds off the car including the drag wheels. Strill have to put front seats back in. Went to carlisle yesterday and had NO luck with parts so turned around and drove to Summit and bought my tires. Hoosier DR's and 8 ply sportsmans for the front. Filled the wifes SRX up three times yesterday!!!
