Now, in addition to all the great reviews on the 1LE's handling abilities, i'm seeing 12.7 second in the quarter, but no one really seems impressed by that. 1/2 second gain in the quarter mile seems pretty impressive to me, especially w/ no added HP, am i missing something?

I have been wondering why no one seems to think this is big deal either. :iono:

Possibly, and this is just my opinion, it's not really a big deal because its already happened. If this were 3 years ago when the SS came out it would be a big deal but the Mustang is on its way out and the Team Camaro has just now stepped up its game (with the ZL1 and 1LE). The 1LE is a little late to the party but seeing as its an amazing performer it's better late than never. I can't wait to add the 1LE or aftermarket suspension to my Camaro. Maybe next year....

Also gearing is something that can be changed in any Camaro maybe that has something to do with it...

If the 1LE was reported as 500 lbs lighter the members here would loose their minds. The performance gains by the 1LE equipped SS in the quarter are the equivalent to the SS being 500 lbs lighter. Thatz BIG news!! 12.7 say what?!

Both are very nice cars but the 1 LE is not a ZL1 just like the ZO6 is not a ZR1. Look at the the results from the lightning lap, the ZL1 was 4 seconds faster on the track than the 1LE.

"Handling" is more than just measured performance stats. The way it "feels" as you're generating those numbers is part of it.

IOW, more about transient behavior such as when you initiate a turn and the car is still in the process of rolling over to however much your cornering will ultimately make it go. I think you have to look beyond such factors as weight, weight distribution, and tire size(s) in the static sense and try to imagine how they (and other factors) affect how the car responds to your steering and pedal inputs as a function of time. Yeah, I know that's kind of a big mouthful all at once.

I'd certainly expect the 1LE's handling feel to be "lighter" and for it to be slightly more responsive even if there isn't much difference in the published skidpad and slalom numbers.

One analogy might be the difference between using a 28-oz framing hammer vs the 16-oz claw hammer that many of us probably own. One of them gets the job done rather more brutally than the other.

Semi-off topic - I'm surprised that the Boss LS is that far off the pace . . . or that anybody on the planet could spot Randy Pobst 20 seconds a lap at WS and still beat him back to the line.

The 4.2 0-60 I find really amazing. Drop a 100 pounds and add 50 HP and your knockin' on the 3's.

Nice article on the 1LE and the history of them in the Jan Camaro Performers Mag.

Intake, LT headers, cam, tune....drool.....

The Chevy Performance LS3 heads and cam shaft with new tune can may be a must have! 40hp expected. Still naturally aspired. Retails for $1,500.

Also...
If I were to buy the 2010 2SS RS I have my eyes on, is it possible to down the road upgrade my suspension to match this?

Yes, just a bit more work is required as you need to convert to FE4 first (2010-11 SS Camaros come with FE3)

I'm wondering If they are guessing at the $1500. I went to Rick Hendrick chevy on thursday and the part number is not in the system. He even called chevrolet directly and it's not there yet.
I have the part number memorized. Lol. and will be installing the package on my ls2 GTO.
You guys can google it "19300535"
