Any chance this kit will be offered with a newer style (or more sleek) mirror in the near future?
|
what mirror did you have in mind?
|
Thanks for the reply. I guess something more similar to the LS frameless mirror you sell.

I'm actually looking at a camera from an equinox. - it and it's bracket are one piece, and it's meant to snap in place from the outside/under (it goes in the liftgate handle on the equiniox) it's a little hard to see in the pics, but there are fingers on the sides of the camera that should hold onto the bumper plastic... and appears to have the right plug configuration

Hello all,
first post on here so bear with me. I have a 2011 2SS, it doesnt have the nav/touchscreen head unit, but I'm thinking of changing that to the factory mylink unit quite soon. But my question is can I get just the backup camera and hook it up the head unit without tearing my hair out? Thanks |
yes you can if it programed to.

I bought your Back-up Camera Kit in January. Since it's getting warmer I'm getting ready to install it. The pictures on this post look different than the kit I have. My first question is how do I get the black plastic channel behind the mirror off?
|
2nd question: What are the white plastic pieces and screws for?
Whatever generation this kit is, it looks much better than the one shown in the above pictures. I think it is necessary to supply directions or updated photos on the installation. Especially where to use the trim tools. My biggest issue is at the mirror and the A pillar. The rest of the photos are easy to follow. Any help in this area would be gratefully appreciated. |
GREAT write up!!!

I finally installed the back-up camera kit I received in January. It took my friend & I two hours to install. No problems in installing and it works great.
One thing I found easier to do was to cut the hole in the bumper with a utility knife instead of drilling a hole. The plastic cuts really easy. Thanks Ofer. |
I don't want the mirror I just want the backup camera to tie into the new My Link Radio I just got off you. Will it work like this? What do I need just the camera and the video cable?

Anyone with a ZL1, i need a picture of how the back up camera is mounted, trying to fit a zl1 camera into my 2011 ss, the bracket that comes with the camera its on angle, need to know what angle the camera it's mounted, maybe i need to trim some plastic off the bracket.
I need a picture of the camera mounted on the rear bumper so, if anyone can take a picture of your camera and post in here or sent it to my email. CASTLEWOOD2004@GMAIL.COM THANKS |
I noticed Ofer's site just offers the *entire* kit now, which removes the option of use just buying the components (harness, camera, etc.) separately...bummer...way over priced...

Look under plug and play for one harness and in the mylink for the camera's and harness, or PM or e-mail to get us is,we will help out. |

What a coincidence I did mine Saturday too. It was easy when it was all said and done, but mentally preparing myself to cut a hole in my bumper was a challenge in itself haha. I never noticed until I took a real good look at the bumper, that the license plate lights are not centered with the bumper. They are offset to the left a little which makes the camera not quite in the center, this bothers the OCD side of me.

In the first post it says I need an Onstar LCD mirror. How do I know if I have one of those?

Hello,
I live in Germany but I'll visit my sister in the US soon. I have a Camaro ss 2010 (mexico Modell I think). I would like to install a backup camaro. When I'm gettin it right, I need http://www.ebay.de/itm/152468758971?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, camera (where do I get it from?), video cable, power cable and adapter Harness (where do I get it from?). Of course I could buy the complete kit, but 460$ seems so expensive, since the Mirror costs only 100$. |
I put one in my 2010 2SS Camaro in 2014. I got the complete kit from the company Gen5DIY. It came with a new mirror, camera and wire harness. I didn't have to buy anything else. I don't know if the German Camaro is different than the US Camaro. It was a plug and play kit. I hope this helps.

I ordered the camera kit for my 2010 2SS, in preparation looking for some feed back.
Since we know the back up lights are not centered, which makes the camera a little off center from the pictures I have seen if you center the camera evenly between the BU lights. Has anyone tried to install the camera so it's centered with the car, which would make it just a little more to the right in the BU light area? Appreciate the feed back |
