Z28 to replace SS on 6th Gen?
Sorry if this has already been brought up. :yikes:
So Chevy has announced that they will release the SS as V8 powered a performance sedan in 2014. (which i'm stoked about, but that's beside the point) So since the name of the sedan will be the SS will they simply change the future badging of the SS to the Z28? On the 4th gen the Z28 was the common and the SS was the upgraded version. Could we see that again in the 6th Gen with the Z28 being the normal V8 and maybe the 1LE or something else being the upgraded version? |
Don't think they will

SS will still exist as a performance package on vehicles. Just for whatever reason GM decided to use it as a vehicle nameplate as well.

Remember back in the early to mid 2000's when they had the Blazer SS, Impalla SS, Monte Carlo SS. They will still keep the SS tag like theyve always done and use it as it was used waaaaay back in the 60's and 70's with the Chevelle SS, Impala SS, El Camino SS, as a performance upgrade package. Yyyyyyyyyyeah.

I predicted the Z28 will replace the ZL1 for the 6th Gen. The other models will remain.

i think it might. i can't believe the Z28 will be gone forever, and it shouldn't be a super lovw volume car either

I'm still hoping they change the name of the new sedan. I am very interested in the cars that come from Holden but am not sold on the name. When people say yea I got an SS the response will be what kind of SS, Camaro, Cobalt, Silverado, etc.

In my book there is only 1 SS and that is the Camaro...just sayin.

I just think if they do name it the SS that the SS as a package will be gone. They may move over to the LTZ package names, i guess.... |

If there had not been a 61 Impala SS there may have never been a Camaro SS. |
