I'm hearing everyone and will take all of the advice. One thing to remember is Scott was beat slightly by an LT. Running neck to neck the whole way. Even with a slow start he should have gained big time after that. I will try all of the different variables and launches that have been discussed but can't overlook the races car to car.
Anyone else? |
8327 is going to be around 600 miles when I head to the dealership to swap out the LR wheel that was scratched when I took delivery.
I am going to change the oil at that time also. I have not been easy on the car so far. I don't gun it all the time but I have gotten into quite a few times. It feels strong and last night after reading these threads again I went out for a spin. Let the car warm up some and then went down a straight deserted street. Held sport mode button 7 seconds. I actually squealled the tires for the first time. I will try to post something with video tomorrow after the oil change. Never posted a video so not sure how that is done. I say after oil change I will treat it like other vehicles I have owned and drive how I plan to. I have done that with 2 Z28 models LT1 and LS1 2 Tahoes a forgive me my first car a Integra and forgive me again a 96 Mustang GT. The 97 Z28 is stock and 104000 miles and it is going strong. 2003 Tahoe same thing. Irpq I wonder if Scott broke his in the same way you did? I remember reading somewhere FBodfather said the computer will learn your driving habits or something like that. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?:iono: |
Vin # 11527
0-60 (no official test yet - have a G-Tech coming and going to the track this weekend (granted won't get me 0-60) but with counting in my head about 5.5 seconds. 1892 miles on it, Friday will be 3 weeks of owning. Oil and filter changed at 489 miles Oil and filter changed at 1601 miles Rear end fluid changed at 1601 miles Runs great - just can't wait to start modding it. |

I've not jumped in because I'm not a 2SS owner yet, but it almost sounds to me like this traction control, launch control etc maybe the problem. The traction control in my '97 Z28 applies rear brakes, retards the timing and shoves the throttle back if the rear wheels start to spin. If I were you guys I would try to find out how to turn everything off completely, Launch control, traction control etc. make sure it's all completely off if possible, then hammer it and see what happens. My guess is if you get it all turned off, you better hang on!!!!! My 2 cents

Mine Ive had 2 weeks about 1000 miles on her. Alot of driving. Havent timed my 60 but it seems quick. Im happy with performance so far. But Ill try my 60 next time someones with me so they can do it off there watch. But im guessing mine is close to were it should be! To everyone who is not happy I hope GM will fix this problem! Because this is actually false advertisement of there product if not! Good luck guys and gals!

I'm not raggin on GM or Chevy or my dealer or anyone. I'm just disappointed. |

I wonder if somehow they are not getting turned off, even if you think they are. What you are describing seems to wreak of a malfunctioning traction control. |
Vin 230
2300 Miles 0-60 Times 7.68 and 7.26 Very unhappy with performance. Looks are great but I am regretting getting the auto. GM said it was just as QUICK as the stick. You see I do not care to do 100+ Quarter Miles since that is speeding. I want to get to the speed limit quick and 0-60 in 7+ seconds is not the -5 seconds promised by GM. |

Tune your car and enjoy how it becomes a beast. |
VIN 12630
585 miles so far and I'm planning to change the oil within the next 200 miles or so I haven't tried to time it yet but it's performing excellently. After a late night, empty street encounter with a Dodge Magnum and a Mustang GT, they would agree (moment of weakness with the new car, I usually don't street race at all). I'm trying to find time to get to the track and see what it can do once I change the oil. |

Fbodfather mentioned these reasons why the L99 is slow to some..........
First -- it has torque management -- but it's important to understand that the computer 'learns' as you drive it...... Once the engine breaks in (1 to 2 thousand miles is initial breakin -- ) you can start 'getting on it' -- and the computer will "learn from that point on" -- By 5,000 miles, this car is gonna perform! Big Time. Now -- you say: well - why didn't the 4th gens do this? Answer: Active Fuel Management........that brings a whole new dimension into play...and thus the need to 'learn'....... Scott if you wanted instant HP from the box then you should have got a manual. However I bet when the car reaches its peak 5000miles it will be there. good luck |
