Anyone tint their windows? I'm looking for a quality shop in the Tri-state area to get my Camaro tinted. Any recommendations?

I was recommended Top Edge in Smithtown. I'm going today to have it done. I'll get back to you with the details. Stay tuned.

How much did they charge you? Did you get metallic or ceramic?

It was 170. I got 20% all around and I am not sure if its ceramic or metallic. Whats the difference?? And How can I tell?? Their # is 516-489-2380.

You probably have a metallic tint since you paid $170. Ceramic tint installation costs between $300-$400. I got this explanation of metallic vs ceramic from another thread:





There are a couple of differences between metallic and ceramic window tint.

1. Ceramic is not supposed to interfere with radio signals (GPS/Cell/AMFM) like metallic films do.

From the owner's manual:

2. Ceramic tint does a slightly better job at blocking UV and infrared heat so your interior will stay cooler. In my car, I definitely could feel the heat coming through the glass before I had the tint put on. After the install, I can barely feel any heat, even when it's 95 and the sun is hitting the window directly.

3. The last difference is that ceramic is supposed to be slightly clearer (optically). I'm sure that comparison could be argued for any low vs. high quality window film, metallic or ceramic.

Destroyer, how does the 20% look with CGM? I've been trying to decide between 20% and 35%. Does it match the CGM or is it darker?

Thanks, that was helpful. The good news is I have not listened to a radio in years with XM. Havnt had cell issues at all.

My opinion is it was made for this color. 35 seemed a little to light. Ill post some pics tomorrow when I get her back. I have 2 but they really did not come out good at all.

Here are some pix. its tough to get a good shot because of the sun and reflections. Check out the one with the side window and the windshield. there not too big a difference. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Good Luck
