Dear God, help me.. 2013 ZL1 or 2014 Stingray

I have a 2011 2SS RS L99 and I love every inch of this car... but it's time to change... and I just can't make up my mind...

I've been reading and waiting for the ZL1 so long and just when it came here to our dealers... GM dropped another bomb by announcing the 2014 C7 Stingray...

Should I go to the dealer tonight and fill the papers for a black ZL1 manual..... or should I wait ill the end of the year and get a gray Stingray manual with red interior with competition seats...:iono::iono:

There will be a 15-20k difference. If that doesn't phase you and you want the first c7 then go for it. But it will be the first years model so they will run into the design flaws over the next couple years. I would say ZL1 for me personally :D

I would expect the stingray to start in the low 50's so price would be close I'd think.

Get the stingray. You'll be the new toy on the block, and it's fast as hell.

I am thinking about the same thing. The c7 looks awesome. But I am seeing brand new ZL1's in the low 50's so that is tempting.

I do believe the new Stingray they are showing is the high-end model, which is six figures, but the starting models will look similar, still about $65k+ when you are finished adding things like floormats...

So where are you seeing "brand new ZL1's in the low $50's, anywhere? Here is the Chevy link and a coupe starts at $56,500, vert is $61,745, to start. Given the demand for a ZL1 right now, some dealers are charging thousands above sticker, which will end one day, but not today.

If you can get a ZL1 for "the low 50's", more power to you.

All we've seen at Detroit are Stingrays with the Z51 package. That's pretty close to base.

If you can afford a C6, you can afford a C7.

newagemuscle 01-31-2013 07:38 AM

I personaaly would go for the C7 for the wow factor. It will be the new kid on the block. I have seen the C7 at the Detroit auto show and on the streets here in MI and it is awesome. From a performance stand point the ZL1 should not have anything on that C7. To each there own. Very both nice cars and I'm sure you would be happy with either one.

if you can swing either, its really a no contest. The stingray is a beast

Keep your current Camaro, and buy the Stingray, if you can afford it. I would love to own both.

Personally I'd stay with the Camaro there's nothing better imo

the_fast_one 01-31-2013 08:37 AM

I'd get a zl1 first and wait on a c7. My plan is to let the newness fade and prices/mark-up to settle down. Your going to pay a premium to get a new c7, but after a year they will settle.

BlackinBlack 01-31-2013 08:50 AM

ZL1

Reasoning:

1) You love your current Camaro. A ZL1 is the same car only much better.

2) A ZL1 is a ton more practical than a Corvette. (Tons more room to be sure.)

3) Corvette is going to be in high demand so let the price gouging begin.

4) The initial C7 cars are not going to be the high end car. Very quickly they will be common and like the current model driven by trophy wives and old men that putt along at 35 in a 55. :yikes: (Sorry if I offend any Corvette drivers but it seems the stereo type holds true more often than not. <Writes this while putting on a fire proof jacket.> ) A ZL1 will be less common even though I do see them on the road. It never will be as common as Base/Grand Sport Corvettes. I guarantee that the new C7 will be no different.

Top dog Camaro, or lower level Corvette....... I personally would go top dog. Even if the Corvette is faster around the track, unless thats what you want to do with it.
