Camaro tires vs speedo readings

I have just bought a used Camaro V6 2010 model, made in Canada. Previous user was located in Florida, car was sold to Rental Agency in the United Arab Emirates, so I am the 3rd user.

Tires required replacement and I couldn't find the stock size 245/55/R18 so I installed Continental 255/55/R18. You might urgue that the ones I bought had more meat but they were very slighter higher. The result is that the speedometer on my Camaro shows 140 km/h whereas in fact I am doing 145 km/h. I was able to determine this by using my Garmin Montana GPS unit.

Another issue is that the Car Rental Agency in the UAE tuned the car and disabled the traction control, so the trac is always ON so that customers do not drift in the car. And the top speed is locked at 195 km/h.:frusty:

I am extremely happy with the car. Looking to do minor mods including CAI, headers and cut back.
