700 Horsepower Camaro ZL1 HPE700 by Hennessey [Video]

"Hennessey’s HPE700 package will get you a very-conservatively rated output of 707 horsepower, which should be enough to shave about half a second from your 0-60 mph time.

We say conservatively rated output, since the car in the video dynoed at 490 hp to the wheels when stock, representing a driveline loss of about 16-percent. Given that the HPE tuned Camaro ZL1 measured 671 hp at the wheels after Hennessey worked his magic, that puts the real gross output at around 799 horsepower by our calculations."

To achieve such a noticeable gain, HPE ports the cylinder heads; upgrades the camshaft; adds a cold-air intake, long tube headers and high flow catalysts; changes pulleys to up the boost; retunes the ECU and modifies the heat exchanger for better charge-air cooling."

Would like to have seen it run down the quarter mile. How can you have it sitting at the tree and not run it down the track :iono:

I can see that, letting the customer get that SUPER ULTRA GRIN for the first time at the TREE when he/she puts the pedal to the metal after the HPE upgrades :chevy:

Looks so damn fun!

Sick as hell but surely not worth the money for that upgrade for a half a second. But hey, everyone has their opinion.

More to it than 1/2 second....you just can't comprehend how bad it is. I road raced for many years and it is bad as a road race car. All the exceleration numbers are better than a ZR1 Corvette. You can take it at 130 mph, roll it flat, it will down shift to 5th, pull you back in the seat about an inch and the front end comes up about an 1-1/2 inch and it will pull the cheeks on you face back. Take your stock ZL1 out on an interstate ramp, turn on the ramp, get it nice and straight, and roll in it hard (remember I have an automatic) starting about 20 mph. It may spin the tires a little (mode 5 on the handling) and in few seconds (throttle response not great) it'll take off. I'm sorry, but a stock ZL1 needs help, or I'm really spoiled. My other car is a 2010 Hennessey 600. Last Sunday morning I took the 700, got on a ramp, got it nice and straight, rolled into it hard from 20 mph, spun the tires through first, second, and got a little sideways in 3rd and come off the ramp on to interstate at 145 mph. Additional info...the throttle response is so much different on the 700. You can take a half inch of throttle and run 100 mph all day long. Stock the car got 18.9 mpg and the 700 gets 20.9 both at a steady 70 mph. The Hennessey packages will be the best money you will ever spend on the ZL1 (or any other car). You won't regret spending a penny of it. And it falls back to what I've always said....you can't call it a car until it has that chrome HENNESSEY skicker on it.

I tend to agree with you Lawman.

Consider the following stats, mods, cost to get there:

2013 ZL1 stock: 580 HP = around 490 RWHP dyno
2013 GT500 stock: 662 HP = around 601 RWHP dyno
2013 ZL1 HPE700 799 HP = around 671 RWHP dyno

I am greatly annoyed that GM does not give the stock ZL1 around 650 HP
to make it more comparable to the Shelby GT500.

ZL1 owners are shelling out $20,000 - $30,000 extra dollars to Hennessey ADM, or Redline to boost their RWHP to 671, which is still only around
70 more RWHP than a bone stock Shelby GT500 Stang and it voids the
GM factory warranty !

I don't think it's worth spending all that extra money to get more RWHP
but apparently many ZL1 owners do ? :iono:

I like Hennessey vehicles, they do great work but it's expensive for the amount of time, modifications, money required to get 671 RWHP.

I'm just saying...
