Everyone with a Spoiler... PLEASE READ!

EDIT: THERE ARE 6 SPOILER NUTS THAT REQUIRE RE-TORQUE

EDIT #2: Lock washers, Lock tight, Nylocks etc are a MUST!!!!
I cranked mine down and one month later they are all loose again

My spoiler felt completely tight, but for grins I pulled the plastic caps off the access holes and found ALL 4 were LESS than finger tight. (2 more nuts under the cover) Would not have been long before they fell off and started floating around inside the trunk lid.

My spoiler has never been off,,, even for stripe installation. Since the nuts are covered and spoiler feels tight this is something that could easily be missed in QC inspections. Maybe they left them that way for cars getting stripe installs. :iono: My installer didn't need to remove the spoiler

Do youself a favor next time you're in the trunk... pull the caps off and check...:D

A 10mm deepwell socket and ratchet will fix you up...

BE CAREFUL not to over-tighten, you may buckle the trunk lid!!

Can anyone find out the proper torque and maybe a little blue lock tight!

Oh, that's great...Now I have to supply my trunk monkey with a ratchet set..

Is there some 3M double sided tape holding the spoiler tight, even when the bolts are loose? If there is I doubt the spoiler would come off even without the bolts... just a thought..

To late for me, I have a dam nut rattling around in my trunk. Going to the dealership with this and some paint issues. I will have them fish the nut out.

Make sure they dont scratch everything up while fishing for the nuts.

Damn good tip! If I ever get my car that will be the first thing I check.

lol....I had the same thing. I could hear something banging around in there. I pulled back the underside of the trunk cover a tad and the nut came out. Now what is odd is......I did what the original post said. Pulled the caps off to tighten and put the nut back but all 4 nuts where there :) Now where did this extra nut come from???? I guess I could pop off the underside of the trunk cover and look. Any ideas where the extra nut would have come from??? :iono:
