My story of getting my hands on a Camaro isn't as great as others that I have read. It first started in the early summer of '10 where I jokingly told my dad I wanted a Camaro and his response was "Yea, sure I will buy you a car model" Then towards the end of the summer my dad brought it up again that if I wanted one we would start looking into it. Fast forward to September '10 on my dad's birthday. My sister wanted to throw a surprise birthday for my dad and she wanted me to get him out of the house so she could set up. I didn't really know where to take my dad seeing how anywhere with food was out of the question since there would be a ton of food at the party. So once again jokingly I said "Let's go to the Chevy dealership". Surprisingly he agreed and we went. Two hours later we were walking out with a deposit down on an order for a very new 2011 2LT/RS IOM. I know it may seem wrong that I ended up with a new car on my dad's birthday but due to unfortunate family events I was able to pay for it outright myself, Thanks Ma love you and miss you everyday. Even though she passed before the 5th gen came out I know she would of loved these cars, she owned a couple firebirds. So fast forward to the Sunday after Thanksgiving Nov. 28th 2010 the day I picked up my beautiful IOM Camaro. It truly was love at first sight. Since then I have enjoyed her so much. So there is my Camaro story, not the best one ever but a story none the less. My goal for this build is to: 1. Increase performance (power, braking, handling) 2. Cosmetically make it one of a kind 3. Some Weight Reduction 4. Clean up the engine bay Now to get on with the mods: Current Mods Performance Engine Apex Catch Can 654 Roto Fab CAI 46 APEX Air Scoop and w/w relocator 63 LS3 Midpipe with MRT V2 51 Black Ice-olator 55 Trifecta Tune 140 Ported Throttle Body 91 145 MACE Stage 3 Ported IM 204 304 Au Magnetic Drain Plug Ceramic Coated BBK LTs with HFCs 483 17lb Braille Battery 641 Elite Engineering Clean Side Oil Separator Vitesse Motorsports Throttle Controller LFX intake manifold swap Brakes R1 Sloted/Drilled Rotors Front and Rear 377 453 Hawk HPS Pads 453 Suspension Pfadt Trailing arms 526 Pfadt Outer Trailing Arm Bushings 535 LSR Front and Rear Sway Bars 589 , 598 LSR Billet Toe Rods 635 Megan Racing Coilovers 635 HM Racing Design custom front and rear bars 634 LSR Adjustable Rear Endlinks 667 Drivetrain GM 8.6" Rear End with 3.91 gears 656 SS Axles 656 BMR Differential Bushings656 DSS Al 1-piece Driveshaft Cosmetic Interior AAC Amber footwell lights 8 9 LED Dome Light 50 Custom Painted Interior 53 103 425 Chrome door speaker rings 66 Orange powdercoated Aluminum Pedals 77 286 Illuminated Cup Holder 135 Protective Radio Face Cover Exterior Plasti-Dipped Tailight Bezels 35 36 Vinyl Rear Trunk Blackout 167 180 35% Tint on side quarter & rear windows 45 Gills 59 Custom Painted Bowties 390 432 AAC LED DRL 81 Windshield Decal 102 Matte Black 20x10 Nurburgring with 275/40-20 General G-MAX AS-03 110 DRL Harness 160 Matte Black NS-1 401 Black Acorn Gorilla Wheel Locks 453 Hex Vents 524 2 18x9.5 Corvette C6 Z06 with MT ET Street Radial 2 265/40/18 2 Cadillac Spares with MT Sportsman S/R 26x6x18LT Heritage Grill 651 Front Fascia Grill Blackout 654 IOM Painted 3D Fender Vents Engine Bay IOM Painted Fuze Box Cover 17 IOM Painted Throttle Body 145 IOM Painted Roto-fab CAI Box 46 IOM Painted Plenum Cover 290 304 IOM Painted Valve Covers 262 304 Custom Powdercoated Intake Manifold 273 304 Future Mods Prothane Subframe Inserts Trans Cooler *All future mods I currently have just aren't installed at the moment, or I have ordered* Some Car Details: Dyno Numbers: 249.3 rwhp??? 1/4 Mile Time: 10/12/13: 13.564 @ 102.51 (D.A 1186 Corrected: 13.396@103.8) Slip Mods: MRT v2, Roto fab CAI w/ air scoop, Rx Black Ice-olator, Ported TB, Trifecta Tune, Nurburgrings, General Gmax, Mace Stage 3 Ported IM, Rx Plenum Spacer, BBK Lts w/ HFC, Pfadt Trailing Arms and Outer Bushings, LSR Front and Rear Sway Bars, LSR Toe Rods, Megan Racing Coilovers, MT DRs with skinnies, Loss of ~250lbs Stock http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159453 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159461 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159507 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159568 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159799 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355159755 Today: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1375669822 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1376062078 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1368136127 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1375669822 |
I am gonna use this post to try and do an as accurate weight changes as I can with each mod that has been added or what has been removed. Some things may be pointless to weigh but this is more for me to get an idea of what is going on lol.

Love that IOM
|
Thanks, I'll get more mods up as soon as the weather starts to be nice, according to the weather it is suppose to rain for the next couple days and I don't really have anywhere where I can work to get away from it.

Congrats on getting a beautiful car.

Thanks all. So apparently I messed something up when I hooked up the footwell lights because they are not bright at all I can barely see them in the dark. I may just end up hooking them up to the grey wire to go on with the dome light instead of the purple one I connected them to although it is going to be a pain in the ass to take apart that kick panel cover again. I wonder though if the connection with the t-tap isn't great which may be causeing them to be very dim.

So finally the weather was cooperating so I was able to try and fix my footwell lighting. From advice from other members I was able to find a different wire to connect my footwell lights to and right now in the day they seem to be brighter, I will have to see how bright later tonight. I connected them to the yellow wire that goes to the 4 gauge pack instead of the purple wire in the passenger side kick panel, the only down side is the lights have to be on for the footwell lights to be on but I guess in the end thats alright since I won't be able to see the footwell lights during the day anyways.
Where I originally have the lights connected to which made them dim. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355160203 Where I connected them to http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355160231 How the lights look now that they are attached to the 4 gauge pack wire. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1355160219 Later tonight I will go out and take pictures of the lights when it is dark, I tired to take pictures of them when they were hooked up to the passenger kick panel wire but they were so dim they didn't show up when I took a picture. Here is a great DIY Thread for the footwell lights: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54183 |

Now today I decided to paint my fuze box cover IOM and I am almost done I am just torn between two decisions. I need some help deciding so please tell me which is better...with the lettering or without (the letters arent permanelty attached so please dont tell me they are not straight i know). Ending up going without the letters.
|
did you paint that yourself, if so can you tell me where you got the paint from? looks really good
|
Thanks yea I did, I bought the orange paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/year.aspx
and I got clear coat from Lowe's. The black paint is just flat black enamel paint that I use to do car models with. |
