How long from 3400 to delivery?

My dealer said my car is at 3400 as of 5/7. I called Chevy Customer Service today, and the guy said my car is in production but that it takes about 2-3 weeks to be built and pass QC. Are they kidding me? When I called Chevy earlier this week, they said it should be completed next week. Can someone help and clarify? This guy I just spoke too just gave me a coronary.

From what I've heard and read on this site, 2-3 weeks from build to delivery isn't unrealistic. It's actually much shorter than what some people have experienced.

Total build time for a car, including painting etc is 4 days, then it has to go through Q/C which is probably about a week. Once it goes through Q/c it has to be routed on a railcar to you general area and then it has to wait for a full car carrier to be dispatched to your dealer. Total travel time can certainly be 2 weeks. If you get your car in 2 weeks, feel very lucky. I know the wait seem like forever (I just found out I'm at 3300 but no TPW yet), but in the end it'll be worth it.

I have been at 3800 for about 10 days - so I think there is some play in the time you can be from "in-production" to delivery.

Hang in there, wont be long now!

I took me two weeks at 3300, then 1 week at 3400. Now the wait begins at 3800. We will see.

My dealer just said "What do those forum guys know? Have they been in the business thirty years? No. If you want to believe them, fine go ahead, but they don't know what they're talking about. Don't listen to them". I was like whoa. The sales manager was PISSED! He swears on his life I'll have my car this month though. What do you guys think?

I went to 3800 and my dealer says I will have it in 2 weeks. He has been right on every event code date so far. See my sig.

That you are later in the production cycle (not like the first 2 week guys, some of whom STILL haven't gotten their cars due to Q/C), I think you've got a decent chance. Your car will be built with what they've learned in the last 2 months (Battery cable issue, BCM flash, brake weight issue) already applied on the line so they won't have to go back and redo your car. At least I hope so, cause my car seems to be almost right behind yours in line

From what I heard, once you hit 3800 it will take about 2 to 3 weeks.

That makes me feel better guys, but I want to also hear what you guys think about what the sales manager, the guys Ive been dealing with, said.

It does not take them 2 to 3 weeks to physically build a car. It may take 2 to 3 weeks from the production to delivery though.

Chevy told me they're currently producing my car and it should be done next week. That said, my dealer sais it takes ten days once the car is released. Do you still think Im getting it in 2 weeks like my dealer says? My trade in value on my car is sinking VERY fast.

at what event code does the car go to Qc iwas at 3800on the 5th of may now im at 4b00 on the 7th of may .is there any specific code that it goes to qc

KJS 05-08-2009 02:15 PM

Been at 4B00 Since May 1, no further news. Impossible to predict when you go from being built to when your dealer says "Pick 'er up!".
Location, size of dealership, other orders being delivered in your area, car carrier availability, etc.
Seems like it just happens!

people's cars have shown up at the dealer and the status code still showed 3300...i would not put to much trust in those numbers...doesn't seem like they are updated all the time...
