BMW 1-series Tii concept coupe unveiled for Tokyo Autoshow

Not sure if there's many BMW fans around here but I think this thing might steal the show

Lightweight version of the 135i turbo coupe.

BMW is the only car in it's category (vs. Mercedes, Lexus, etc) that I find attractive.

But I have to say the new 1 series is just plain ugly. It's proportions look all out of whack to me.

:barf: not my bag baby...

Not bad. But, of all the BMW's, I wouldn't pick that one.

I might consider BMW if I were ever looking for a luxury sports car (which I doubt). They make nice cars yes, but just not my cup of tea. I say pick and stick. Pick performance or comfort then give the most for the price you want to sell at. To compromise one for the other makes neither one very good. But thats just me. There are lots of people out there that want everything and are willing to pay for it and thats fine. Engineers love to make high end cars. No engineer wants to be on the Aveo design team, but doing that sure beats making dishwashers!

This is probably a good example why I like American cars more. European cars just...look too much the same.

stovt001 10-24-2007 05:05 AM

The problem with the 1 series coupe is that they took the absolutely gorgeous 1 series hatchback sold in Europe, and because Americans have some mindless dislike for hatchbacks turned it into a coupe, but it was never designed for that body style; hence, the awkward styling. However, imagine a car the size of the Cobalt coupe with 300hp, RWD, and M sport suspension for just over $30,000, and you can see why this is an incredibly cool car. The 135 is right up there on my list with the Camaro, and right now I really could go either way. This thing is legit. :w00t:

(cough) Cadillac! (cough) ;)

Yes, Caddy would probably be on the list above BMW for me, but that doesn't mean much. I'm about as likely to drive one of those as a Ford or Toyota. Just not my style

Not sure about the BMW... the rendring of it makes it look a lot more aggressive than the actual car, nice and wide..... Girl's quite cute though http://img126.exs.cx/img126/997/36_1_11.gif
