I agree with all of those with the exception of the religious part. Not trying to start anything but religion is one of the biggest reasons for war. State and church...Keep them separate like the Constitution says.

Great post Skyman, I'd vote for him.

Don't start now... it does not say anything about keeping religion out of government, but it does say keep government out of religon....

It's more like this.

When their is no religion in government things run smooth, its when there is no relegion in the people running the government that trouble starts.

Remember that most of those who designed the US government were neither religious nor observant. :yikes: While there are exceptions that I'm sure someone will point out in opposition to this post, the truth is that morality and religion are 2 very different things. It is possible for a person to be virtuous and only believe in Aristotle's philosophies without actually believing in God. Faith is a very powerful and dangerous thing when used inappropriately; and a very righteous, saving force when used strictly spiritually.

It's not about winning. It's about free expression. I respect Reagan a great deal, but please don't limit the discussion of what he said. He's a true example of great American leadership. I'm only pointing out that his views of religion in government can lead to problems in society. I don't think that's so dangerous.

Professor Francisco, a well-published political scientist at KU, said in one of my classes that the best way to create an atheist state is to institute a state religion. That way, no one will want to follow it.
