Dealership Closings
Does anyone know what would happen to an existing order if that dealership is one that is forced to close?
Would it roll over to another dealership? My order has been placed, but it is a smaller privately owned one, and I'm getting a little nervous and anxious. Not to mention the fact that when I called earlier this week for an update, I was told that they would let me know when the car arrived, and if I was that stressed about it that I could come get my deposit back. I'm really passionate about this car, as my very first car was a 67 RS/SS. Anyway, any feedback would be appreciated  |
From what I understand, if GM closes any dealerships, their plan is to not renew the dealers franchise when it expires. The dealer probably would not close until it had to. Hope this helps.

Thanks, yes it does help

We find out today who closes. GM is supposidly releasing the list of the dealerships that are not getting their franchises renewed.

Even if Performance was selected to lose its GM contract, the Reinschmidt's probably wouldn't close up shop for quite a while as the contracts don't expire until 30 Sep 2010. So you will get your car from them unless you are the one who decides to cancel.

I asked the dealer yesterday when I picked up my car and he said that Oceancrest Chevy in Warrenton Or. and Tillamook Chevy in Tillamook, Or. will not be closing.
FYI for anyone. |
I work at Chuck Olson Chevrolet in Shoreline WA. And all I can tell you for sure is that my dealership and our sister store did not get "Letters". So far there are alot of rumors, but since GM is not going to release a list. Unless your dealership tells you they are on the list don't believe any rumors you might hear. Although I have heard from several people that they "heard" that several other dealerships got the letter, I won't believe the rumors until the owners make a formal announcement.
