irpq11, L99 Dyno results.

Ok fellas. Here are the results from my Dyno this morning.

The tuner was particularly puzzled by the fuel mixture running so rich to abnormal levels. He seemed pretty concerned. Said it may be causing HP loss.

EDIT: Turns out he was exactly right. The fuse pull solved the problem.

Are the HP and torque #'s where they are supposed to be ?

9c1ny 07-09-2009 12:03 PM

seems to be pretty normal for the HP #'s

MTron 07-09-2009 12:03 PM

they do seem a touch low. Could indicated a program issue.

I think the more significant thing here, is that if there is a programming issue, it could also affect the way the transmission shifts, as well as the torque management, thus further compounding the issue

What else did he say??? was he happy with the HP numbers? Or did he think it was under powered?

I'm sure I should know this... but what should it be at the rear wheels?

He said that in his opinion, this car should be losing no more than 15% from crank to wheels. He thinks the rich fuel mixture is causing a loss. In his opinion it should be getting 330 HP to the wheels. He says this car should be tighter than that.

What caused the 20 hp jump from first to third dyno pulls?

Seems low to me, I would take the first dyno run into the dealer and put up the big WTF?!

Xanthos 07-09-2009 12:08 PM

They should be able 320 at the rear wheels, but that A/F ratio looks a bit weird to me as well... That could quite possibly be messing with your numbers. Of course, it could be something else as well.

actually, on further inspection, those seem very wonky...

i mean run 1, the torque and hp curves are nearly idenicel.....very strange....as well the A/F graph is messed...took a major plunge at 4.5 k rpm to 10:1....NOT normal and 200lb feet of torque at 4000 rpm...i mean....wow...not normal

run 2 you A:F is low, and your torque is taking a dive, but more normal then the first

run 3, same issues as 1, A/F dive at 4k rpm torque too low for the rpm at 4000

Wow rich in the mid , I wonder if the WBO2 is off ?

ElAntonius 07-09-2009 12:10 PM

They seem in line with the lower side of what most people are pulling in on the L99 (which seems to range about 310-330 depending on the dyno and other factors)

I wouldn't say that kind of dyno pull would be indicative of a car that is losing 1.5-2 seconds to 60.

Edit: I mean the actual HP numbers. Analysis of the A/F mixture and curves is beyond my ability.

1320junkie 07-09-2009 12:11 PM

Yeah man its a tad bit off..2nd and 3rd would be acceptable but your a/f is kinda wacked...wth happened with the 1st run?

D1BADZ 07-09-2009 12:13 PM

hmmm, interesting, thanks for posting this up

ElAntonius 07-09-2009 12:16 PM

Looking at the low starting torque on run 1, I wonder...

irpq, you've said that you randomly had the car 'wake up' the other day, though it seems intermittent?

I've been thinking about my theory that the car doesn't respond as well to mashing the throttle from the get-go...all my best launches have been in situations where I smoothly feed the throttle in and I've had some disappointing launches where I rammed it...is it possible that some aspect of the L99 software is limiting maximum torque from a dead stop? Perhaps some sort of break-in software?
