Dude at work pissing me off, sell my car.

Keeps going on and on about how I should sell my car and buy a house.

He'd sell it if it was his, depreciating by the day he says.

Annoying as hell, I say "different strokes for different folks, if you had a Harley Ultra Classic that wasn't costing you anything, you wouldn't sell it."

He says, "well I have a house, but I need a new bike"

He needs that bike about as much as I need my car, and I already have 2 bikes.

He has a 2002 Harley electraglide classic that is his baby.

Everything with wheels depreciates.

HOLY CRAP SAME SITUATION FOR ME!!!!
im 23, still living at home and went and bought this beautiful car.
i got lucky and was hired onto the chicago fire dept at 21... guys at the firehouse always give me sh!t for not moving out and "blowing my money on this stupid car"
im sorry, i've been blessed, not many 22/23 year olds have the opportinity to purchase a car like this. dont get me wrong, i've had 750$ a check taken out before i got my hands on it and going directly to my credit union account since i can remember... parents are moving within the next year or so, so why not stick around and be able to save over 1400 a month?
thats my logic

JEFF2010SSMANUAL 05-08-2010 12:51 AM

They are just wishing they had the car. But buying a house IF you can afford it and have a FIXED rate loan is a real good idea at a young age, if you make 1 or 2 extra payments a year you could pay it off in 15 years or less.

If you are 23 just think having a payed off house at age 38!!! That would be awesome.

BUT you need to IGNORE these people, stay away if you can. By always giving in and letting them bother you will only make it worse and it will never end.

DO NOT LISTEN OR COMMENT TO THEM ..IGNORE THEM...

Topdown 05-08-2010 01:03 AM

Actually... They are right, you SHOULD sell it and buy a house.

Who the hell only does the things they SHOULD?

jagan323 05-08-2010 01:09 AM

lol... yeah, that guy sounds pretty annoying. No offense... but why do you have two bikes and a car, but no house? =/ EITHERWAY, the Camaro is worth it overall =D

Sully 05-08-2010 01:17 AM

i totally understand that i could very easily be driving my paid off 05 cobalt and be saving an extra 700 a month, however i am into cars, i like cars, and i would rather be living it up at 23 with a car like this than be 40 with a....2030 camaro lol

i understand that financially this is the wrong way to go about it BUT WHATS THE FUN IN THAT?!?!
i would rather be having tons of fun in my younger years
having a camaro at 40 with a wife and kids (im assuming) is probably not as fun at being single with a camaro at 23

i will move out and i will have a house... i just postponed that a year or two to have tons of fun, and drive a nice car. what good is a house without anyone to share it with (g/f, wife, kids, ect...) i work 24 hour shifts and when im off, im RARELY home so what good is a house going to do me right now when all i do is sleep and shower in one, and nothing else

i didnt buy this car for anyone else besides me, nor to "show off" yes i like it when people comment, but u will never hear me bring up the fact that i drive a camaro in conversation unless that question is asked (i get the "your just trying to show off" all the time)

this is my point, justified or not this is what i chose and im very happy with it... what i really need to do is get a studio in downtown chicago... then the possibilities will be endless :headbang:

Chevyg1rl 05-08-2010 02:02 AM

A house is great but it's not all it's cracked up to be. Having both, if I had to choose between them, I'd keep the car.

Sully 05-08-2010 02:21 AM

you can sleep in a car, cant drive a house... nuff said:sm0:

SummoneR 05-08-2010 04:23 AM

I hate it when people do this crap to me too. Drive me nuts! STFU and let me live my life, I don't tell you how you should live yours!
LOL

Lauryn200 05-08-2010 06:06 AM

Why does it have to be a house...get a condo.

rayhawk 05-08-2010 06:28 AM

Ask him how much his house has depreciated in the past three years. I'll bet it is a lot more than your Camaro cost!

SGOS252382 05-08-2010 06:41 AM

Unless your planning on getting married and looking to have kids, I don't see the need to get a house.

I'd tell your friend to get a life and worry about himself.

You're just lucky you didn't buy a house a few years ago. Then you'd be in over your head in dept.

Blackbean 05-08-2010 07:01 AM

A house used to be an investment, but with real estate prices in limbo,it could be 10 yrs. before you realize any gains.
Alot of the people that I know, bought huge houses in cramped developments so they could boast about how many square feet they have, now that house has lost 50% of it's value and is like the anchor on the EXXON VALDEZ,around their necks.
Insted of building equity, they are watching it go down the drain.
Live everyday to it's fullest, and take advantage of all the oppurtunities you get.Enjoy yourself while you are young and don't think that someday in the future you will do it. That day may never come.

mmbarberoilman 05-08-2010 07:04 AM

He bugs you because he is an idiot. Just smile and agree with whatever he says, then ask him if he would care for a ride or to even borrow the keys. Smile and simply say " "Nice car eHH. I like it too"
