FYI SS Emblems

I wanted to black out the SS emblems on the rear deck and front grill area and keep the chrome surround. I started with the deck lid a and removed the white decal inlay. Underneath, the surface was chrome plated. I then applied a black satin vinyl film and carefully cut around the inlay with an exacto knife. It was a PITA but eventually after a few attempts it came out pretty good. To my happy surprise when I peeled off the front white SS decal it was black underneath.

So far I have blacked out the bow tie inlays and Plasti dipped the Camaro front fender emblems. I also replaced the chrome lugs with black Gorilla locking lugs and installed my Apex catch can. Friday I removed the hood film which I could never get to look right.

A friend of mine is a professional detail-er and he has so far put in about 40 hours doing a paint correction and applying C Quartz ceramic coating.

The Victory Red looks fricking amazing after his work and almost blinds you in the sun. I'm anal as hell but Derek makes me look like a kindergartner when it comes to perfection. I'm afraid to wash it. It's now close to 100% mar free.

I'm waiting for him to do the final coating before I post up any pictures. The moral of the story is don't let the dealer touch your car before delivery. Between sitting on their lot and them "washing it" has cost me a lot of time correcting it.

You can say that again. I bought my car off the lot (showroom) and have ran into a couple issues. Also while the car was in the shop for a day they decided to wash it... bad idea because I found a nice deep scratch above the rear quarter :frusty:
