Minimum size wheel on SS Brembo Brake
I intend to drive my SS year round and need to figure out if an 18" wheel will fit over the 14" front and 14.4" rear Brembo brakes. I already figured out the tire size I want. They are Blizzak LM-25 225/60/18" and are the exact same height as the OEM 20" wheels at 28.7" .
Any ideas? |
You need to worry about the offset of the rims because they may rub on the calipers. HRE makes rims that would work

I believe you may be able or order templates from many wheel manufacturers to determine your caliper clearance. I remember reading an article where some Fikses were being sized to order and they were able to either order a template for the brakes, or for the wheels, to check compatability. I think 18s are going to be a super tight fit though...

Dude, I'm not trying to tell you what to do with your Camaro...but with 225's being way way smaller than 275's I can almost promise you, it won't handle well, won't catch traction well, and certainly make your car look funky....Just IMHO...:iono:

You must understand that in the winter you must get through the snow, the stock tires are very wide. The 225/60/18" Blizzak tires are 9" wide, they are NOT skinney, they are made to go through the snow, NOT ride on top of it. This is for driving 62 miles a MONTH to work and back, NOT going up north snowmobiling. I don't do that anymore, thats why I SOLD MY 2004 TUNDRA TRD CREW CAB LIMITED 4X4 WITH A 4:10.1 POSI THAT GOT 10MPG. AND THE SNOWMOBILES ARE ALSO SOLD. I AM NOT 16 YEARS OLD. I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING, AND WANT INTELLIGENT COMMENTS AND OPINIONS.
Thankyou for any good ideas, SORRY for getting a little upset. Jeff D. |
If anybody knows IF 18" wheels with the PROPER OFFSET will fit OVER the HUGE 4 PISTON BREMBO BRAKES, PLEASE DIAL THIS NUMBER.
Thankyou. Jeff D. |
No ideas :iono: :iono: :iono:

18's would probably fit. Your making a daily driver a dragster? lol
SS's are gonna come with sweet wheels I don't get it. Why change size? |

i have to laugh at that because that is untrue. low profile tires reduce roll under and increase handling performance over higher aspect ratio tires. maybe if you are shifting with the manual a taller sidewall may absorb some shock from dumping the clutch

Park the SS for the winter and buy a cheap beater to drive. At 62 miles a month (3 miles/working day) should be able to find something reliable enough to do that for cheap. Save on insurance, and tows from the ditch;) Not to mention the SS will  for it cause the Maro has never been much of a winter sports kind of car.
