Parade Lap at the Brick yard
I know putting on an event of this magnitude is mind boggling, but has anyone looked into the possibility of a parade lap at the brick yard. I know this has been done for other clubs. That would be totally awesome. I suppose we are at the mercy of their schedule, being the peak of racing season, but it would be the chance of a lifetime for most of us.:w00t:

Great minds think alike? ;)

I did my parade lap at Indy last year during the Hot Rod Power Tour!:w00t:
They kept us really sloooooow.............but I drove about 90 on the access road getting on the track.............:D |
I went around the circle in 1990 when they had an ambulance manufacturers convention in Indy. We drove around the track in a passenger van. Would love to do it in Orange Krate and take photos. I did get a good tour behind the scenes in 1990 however, and I wouldn't change that for the world. Doubtful we will make this years fest because my wife and I are taking a cruise for our 25th anniversary around that time. We will be there in spirit though.

The family and I took the lap as part of the museum visit a couple a years ago. Was fun even though it was in a tour bus:facepalm:.Funny, looking back at the photos and remember drooling over the pace car in the museum. Didn't have any idea I would be driving one less than a year later!!

A few wks before the 500 in May they open it up for you to go driving on the track for like $10 or $20. They keep it slow because a few years ago two guys thought it would be cool to race each other and ended up crashing.
At the museum they have a tour you can take, its a bus ride around the track. Pretty scary going around the track at a good speed with the banks in a top heavy bus Last year during practice at the Brickyard Dan Wheldon (huge camaro guy) was taking people out on the track doing laps. Looked like a blast but we got there late and the line was long. |
