Waterbox on street tires?
Just wondering what your supposed to do on street tires. I know when you have slicks it's worth doing the burnout, but on street tires should i just drive around the water instead?

drive around it, do a small burn out to clean off the tires.
thats normally it |
Go around it on the stock tires, that is what I did and ran 1.9 60 foot times, I didn't take any air out of the tires either, just ran it the way it was, no tricks.

most tracks don't like you to drive through the waterbox with street tires because the treads carry water on to the track
|
If you drive through the box your front tires will pick up some water and make you loose traction on launch since your rear tires will be fallowing them.
Some people choose to drive around the waterbox and back into the "moist" spot infront of the box and turn the tires over a few times to clean them off. |

drive around the box if possible. the reasons have been stated above. you can do more harm than good as you can track water onto the track which will be a hazard for other drivers. another note, dont spin the isht out of your tires when you do your warm up. just spin them a enough to get them clean and slightly warm. heating up street tires too much can be a deficit as they are made of different compounds than slicks
