JBA or SW Retro
 

Yes...age old (well 3 year old in our case...) question regarding what has the more "growly" old muscle sound without being over the top and pissing off my pleasent neighbors. The JBA clips I've heard are great, though the 409 steel thing...meh. Still haven't heard a really good representative SW retro clip but still sounds damn good. I've got Kooks LTs to their 2.5" street sleeper full exhaust currently but it is TOO DAMN QUIET and doesn't sound very aggressive at all. Wanting to go 3" and aggressive (but not obnoxious). Looking for yet more opinions...(and yes I'm annoyed I spent the money on the 2.5" kooks...).

I have the full JBA Long tube exhaust system with cats and it's mean. It sounds like a true muscle car with the h-pipe and the 409SS did not bother me. I figured if Magnaflow uses 409SS and charges 1k for a catback so it could not be to bad. I always paint my exhaust black so as long as it's stainless I'm happy.

You can't go wrong with the JBA setup. It is loud, but not so loud it is obnoxious. As long as you stay out of it near your house, your not going to piss anyone off. It will give you plenty of growl.

Mine was my first mod. Still one of my favorite!

I love my SW Retro, and would never consider getting anything else! But I don't have headers, so I can't really say how loud it would be. I know I was pleasantly surprised at how "tame" it was at idle though.

I have SW retro with SOlo high flow cats and WOW!!!! very very nice clean loud sound. not to mention that added HP as well from the HF cats

I've got the SW with catless long tubes and a big cam. If you want loud and melodious, this is your setup. You won't be sneaking up on anyone though, and I wouldn't crank it up at 5:00AM either...
