Texas Speed & Performance 427 LS3 Rotating Assy
Hey guys like it says up top i was wondering how much work would it take to build a 427 out of the ls3. Im not to sure about alum blocks and how you would bore out the cylinder walls. Im kinda stuck between building a stroker motor or just cammin/bolt on's. So any input would be awesome

i don't think you can get a 427 out of a LS3, its a 416 or 418 CI but get the new 454 lsx that is how you will make power LSX7 heads All forged motor and 6 bolts heads.
^^^+1 i think u can go 416 but 427 is not an option. U can but a LS7 from any dealership though
Oh i wonder why they have that on there web site.. Oh well guess its bolts on and a cam. Not sure if i would have the money for the LSX7 im sure its up there. Is there any other places that sell good cam's i see most of them are around $500.00 for the cam or i can get the kit for $800.00 im not worried about install i have the hook up with all my techs................This is what is on there web site

If i do the numbers yes you can do a 427 on a LS3 but that is bore out the cylinder walls to 4.070 that is a lot if you don't re sleeve it, You are beter off going with a 418 and not bore out the cylinder walls.

This makes no sense. A 418 has a 4.070 Bore. A 416 uses a 4.065 Bore. OP, You can definately do a 427 LS3. All you need is this. Callies Compstar #APU317-CS Forged Crankshaft |
Sounds good but id rather get built a short block and just sell the stock one :)
You dont need a stroker motor to go fast or make power
Proline makes a 427 out of a stock LS3 block as well. It is easily done.
You can definitely get a 427. They are all crankshaft stroke. Also you should not boost one too much, as most builders will tell you the rings are too high on the piston. (but some others will do it all day long). Just voicing my opinion.
Right on ZZ. Im going to be boosting the 418 though. Maybe 15 psi or so. Coming soon to a track....

Im figuring the 418 and some head work with a good cam and my turbo is worth say 1000 hp.....
It could be....now get a drivetrain that can handle it, and stick it to the ground and you are good to go!!! LOL
I will nto be going that high in HP, but it will not be too far behind. |
