The Rally stripes must fit the SS (mailslot) and non SS cars. Having the Rally stripes flow into the mailslot area would be hell to install at a dealership.

Sorry, but I don't understand why you consider the Mel Welburne video on the Canadian Camaro site proof of the way the production rally stripes will be. You don't think they would make a different set of stripes for the SS that were two pieces, each hood stripe, to ease installation?

No I don't think they will because it's cheaper just to have one generic rally stripe style that can be used on both cars. JohnnyCamaro (who is the Camaro accessories manager) has come on here and stated what will be offered. He never said that the rally stripes would be available in 2 different packages. If that were to be the case then the V6 and V8 front ends would require their own LPO number to differentiate the part numbers and we would have 10 rally stripe kits instead of the announced 5.

I've always been a monochrome fan, but I'm really starting to see stripes in my future. It just seems like they belong on my new SS!

HELL YEAH!!!! Love this sticky man thanks for all the info. I only wanted the hockey stripe when I ordered but sure as hell didnt want to pay the money for the hood stripe I didnt want and pay $500 bucks for it. Like the blackout piece to. So just the hockey stiripe and blackout pieces on IOM for me.

Unfortunately, GM has not come out with the part numbers if you want to order those pieces individually but I know you will be able to.

Gotcha on the different SS rally hood stripe, Hylton. Of course, two different stripes, two LPO codes and a decision that probably would have already been made. Thanks!

And the above changes everything. I had not picked up on the ability to break apart the hockey stick package and buy at a reduced price, say, only the hood & trunk stripes when I first read the Stripe Facts at the top of this thread. WOW! Hey, but the one good thing - I've got plenty of time to decide. Now, where were those pictures again....

I will publish the part numbers for the individual stripes as soon as they become available.

Anyone know if the cyber grey "metalic" stripe package will mean the stripes are glossy? I really hope we are not stuck with matte colors. It seems it would be easy to offer these stripes in a glossy finish.

destroyer4 11-05-2008 01:34 PM

Does anyone know the diff between the Factory stripe package and the dealer stripe package other then $85.
Thanks.

Legend 11-05-2008 04:27 PM

So I can order the rally stripes (two individual stripes on the hood and trunk, not the solid one!) and the rear panel blackout together and not have to pay for the hockey stripe?

Thanks

D1BADZ 11-05-2008 04:42 PM

ON yellow car at SEMA are those black? matte or gloss or are those cyber gray? anybody there

There is no difference. The factory will only apply the rally stripe on the 2LT and 2SS models. Other models must have the stripes installed by the dealer.

Yes but they have not priced these parts out separately yet. It's coming though.

Thanks Hylton! That's awesome and thanks GM for making this seem easy!

D1BADZ 11-06-2008 09:39 AM

awesome pics! now if I can find out what color blk I will be content!

anybody? matte or gloss?????? anybody there that can tell?

r0cketdr 11-06-2008 09:38 PM

In addition to the matte vs gloss question, does anyone know if the silver stripes are actually silver or are they a light shade of gray? I ask because I've ordered a cyber gray 2ss, and I'm going nuts trying to decide on the rally stripe color .. I ordered black stripes, but now I'm wondering about the silver.

PYROLYSIS 11-07-2008 12:01 PM

I believe 30th anniversary camaros were available with roof stripes. I know i've seen one with them, just unsure if they were factory or not.

Hylton 11-07-2008 12:22 PM

^ I totally forgot about that and what makes it worse is that I own one! You are correct.

Rogue Leader 11-14-2008 09:31 AM

Anyone who went to SEMA have any info about whether the LPO VYR Cyber Gray Hood / hockey Stripe package has now been changed to Switchblade Silver. See the attached photos above in this thread....

So I have a question... If I get the black rally stripes on an SS they will come over the lip spoiler, but I am getting the high wing spoiler, so when they remove the lip spoiler to put on the high wing, a piece of the stripes will be missing in the back because it is still on the lip. How are they going to fix that?

They won't :( You have 3 options:

1. You will need to remove the SS spoiler and do body work/repainting on the trunk lid if you want the high wing spoiler so getting the factory stripes on the trunk lid will be a waste of money for you. After body work and paint, install high wing spoiler and dealer stripes.

2. Find someone who bought a red LS (no spoiler) and trade him your factory spoiler trunk lid for his non spoiler trunk lid. Install high wing and dealer stripes. Should be easy to do this even though very few LS will initially be available. This is currently my best suggestion.

3. Order a new trunk lid, paint it red and then install the wing spoiler on it and re-stripe that trunk lid while keeping/selling the original with the factory installed stripes/spoiler.

Yeah I was just thinking of not getting the stripes when I order and just have them do the body work for the high wing when I get the car... then buy the stripes after and have them installed

Thanks

I'd like to get the blade spoiler. Since it fits flush with the body as opposed to the high mounted spoiler I'm hoping it attaches the same as the stock spoiler, no repainting and body work required. I'm also assuming then I'll have to go the dealer stripes route. My concern, would the dealer stripe kit be long enough to cover the blade spoiler? And am I correct in assuming it will attach without body work and repainting? Thanks
