i agree, this is like 69-70 all over again! I would LOVE to put a LS-9 in my 72 Z28! Its got a big block 454 in it now but the LS-9 would be awesome!

Yea that is an interesting way to look at the situation. While there is great worry about gasolines future and geo-politics etc etc. The truth is the best cars are being made right now and it is good times compared to what it could be.. worse in the future.

The Camaro was almost killed in 1972 anyway due to poor sales and a 174 UAW strike at the Norwood and Vannuys plants. Alot of the muscle cars were in critical times due to the begining of the Arab oil embargo.

Sorry bud, I think the New muscle car era is over, it's just that the Camaro is a little late to the party. Better late then never though.

Believe it or not, now this is just my opinion now.... but I believe that we will see new muscle cars and even ones that run on alternative fuels. Back in 69 and 70 a true muscle car sraight from the dealer, even ones like Motion performance, Berger, Don Yenko, even the legendary ZR-1s from Fred Gibbs and the legendary Dickie Harrell were only in the 12s. Weve got cars now in the high 12s, now thats performance! Who knows in the next 10 years what we might be driving and how fast they will be able travel?

With 20/20 hindsight... we're not reliving 69-70 all over again. We are so far past it, that era is long gone. HOWEVER... we pay homage in design, but not in performance. The V6 of today KILLS the V8 of yesterday. With the "fuel mileage" era incoming with Obama's vision of 2014-15... I'd say we are currently in the golden era of muscle cars (hp and T-wise).

Oh, I *HAD* to bring this post back to life. With the departure of ToddSS... yeah... I'd say his "vision of the future" was so woefully WRONG he got spanked out of this reality.

"Thank you" to those that pre-ordered and everyone that bought a 2010!

I grew up in the 60's and early 70's. It was a magical time....Mach 1's, Shelby's, Hemi Mopars, LS6 Chevelles, 427 vettes. I miss it, but todays technologies melded with yester year styling is the best of both worlds! Here is a 64 vette I did last year:

i agree that cars are being built better than ever, and if they ever get the oil/gas/emmissions thing worked out, i wont be surprised if new muscle cars start popping up, not just the rebirth of legendary cars like the Camaro, but new models. and im very excited about that. :D
