I can tell you that that particular car paint job was 17-25k. Saleens in-house custom paint for there S281's is 17K and that is a mustang that is priced any was from 50-90K, this car is 200k. Check out Saleen.com and look at there mid level priced S281SC, saleen in-house custom paint $17,000. There are some paint jobs that do cost that kind of money.

the only reason they "cost" that much is because they know there are rich idiots out there that will pay for it.

No actual paint costs that much, and there is no special technique to it that would make it cost that much.

The only way i ever see a paint job costing that much is if it is some sick custom job with airbrushing and that kinda crap.

Sorry bad dry humor on my end. It was intended to be a sarcastic joke, but I guess I missed the punch line. sorry so no harm no foul.

I know this is a dead thread, but theres something about this yellow that makes it too nice not to want on the Camaro. I just don't trust other body shop paint jobs to have a new camaro customized to this color (In terms of qualitiy). I think GM should offer per order only, theres no other way to keep everyone happy.

Even if everyone ordered this color I'd still want it. There's just something that pops about the color versus all the others.

So since there are many custom paint shops out there, there is bound to be some one to get the similar effects of the bumblebee paint out there. There is also bound to be a thread or blog some where with the recipe for it.

So....I'm googling away.

Question for THR!!

Sorry to jack the thread back everyone...but Mr. Henry, if you're still minding this thread and decided on the price of your custom paint job, could you please PM me or let us all know...? I wasn't all that thrilled about the 'Transformers' edition, except for a few of the parts (like the center wheel caps, etc.) and even less so about the rally yellow and stock stripes. One of my neighbors has a new banana 'Vette, but even that didn't help the color...! (No offense to anyone who has/likes rally yellow, but that's what this thread is about)

I'd be more than happy with your THR fender badges and front grille divider than half of the stuff in the 'Transformers' kit...!

Also looking for the Whipple twin-screw when they come in for the 2010 if you can get 'em :headbang5thgen:

Hello,

The people thinking that you can get a full body custom paint job for $3,000-$5,000 are not living in the real world. You get what you pay for and you go to the best to get work done then work out the best price you can, but, It will not be cheap and if you want cheap don't bother doing it! PS my car is in the shop getting the custom full body paint job from Rally Yellow to Sunrise Gold.

Thanks,
