V6/V8 DIET
Can we start a list (I will edit/update this top Thread) of what we could remove or change or restyle to save weight and hopefully increase MPG.
I know it's not a very 'Muscle Car' idea, but I'm interested how far we can go without going totally bare Race Car and still keep the good looks inside and out. I'd like it to be economic too, so not CarbonFibre replace everything :-) I'm sure some of you have done this and it still looks 'Camaro' cool. So links too for This Listing. ------------- The DIET List ------------

This is the best pic I can find of his back seat but Driyac tore out his back seat and replaced it with a plywood "box" and carpet. Said he dropped about 80 lbs.
The bottom part of the pic is the top of the "box" http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8432/7...cba7278a_b.jpg |

I heard this one hippy say he fills his car only half way each time to save weight and increase mpg.

Definately the butt ugly, lead heavy exhaust system is at the top of the list. Ruby lost 30 lbs when she got her Borla exhaust. Pics of her weight loss:

Get hot skinny girls to drive our cars instead of us?

Look up posts by a user here named "dietcoke." From what I understand, he's the go-to for ways to take out some of the weight in these porkers

It's already been done....buy a Z/28! :)

A friend of mine who drives a '12 5.0 said he gained 3 miles a gallon when he switched for an aluminum drive shaft. Then he put different gears in and lost that and then some

That's a very 'Muscle Car' idea. Removing weight helps performance as much as fuel economy. Just look as all the weight saving ideas that GM employed in the new Z/28. |
"Doc" (I think is his name) is probably one of the authorities here on weight savings with these cars.
He has a SS with full interior and his SS weighs in the 3,600lb range. Basically he has lost at least 200 or more lbs. I'd super happy if my car weighed that. |
