Teamradrz1's 2012 2SS/RS 6MT mod thread
I have a mod page started on the local area forums and I was told I should create a build thread. I have lots of pictures So I will create this in chronological order according to what I have done so far.
I purchased my Camaro in mid January as a 2SS/RS with Hurst short throw 6MT. I wanted to purchase a synergy edition car (edition not the color) I was told there was non available throughout the country and I would have to order one. Well that wasn't an option for me so they worked with me to build one with the features that were most important to me. So I bought the car and ordered the extras from the dealer. 2012 2SS/RS LS3 with 6MT Exterior Mods: Window Tint 20% - Tommy's tinting Headlights and tail lights tinted - Tommy's Blacked out chevy logos front and rear Clear bra installed on front, mirrors, door handles, shark gills and rear bumper - Tommy's Foose Legend 104 Black w/silver lip 20X8.5 Fronts & 20X10 Rears - Les Schwab made me a Hell of a deal! I didn't wait more than a week to take it in to get the windows tinted and the clear bra installed to protect that beautiful black paint! When I showed up at Tommy's Window tinting here in Portland Tommy looked at the car and asked for some leeway for him to be creative, I said go for it!
When I picked it up he had tinted the headlights, tail Lights and third brake light in the spoiler. He also blacked out the front and rear emblems, I know this isn't anything new but was unexpected and it looks awesome! http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/069-1.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/063-2.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1817.jpg |
By this time I was in full mod mode looking to make sure my car didn't look like any other Camaro in the area. I found on the forums the Showstopper sidemarkers which I had to have and are still one of my favorite mods! I also Installed my MBRP catback exhaust at this time too which made installing the rear side markers much easier.
here is before - after -lit up http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1823.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/078-1.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...radrz1/096.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1819.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/073-1.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...radrz1/094.jpg |
I also installed the Phoenix Gold Camaro amp/sub package which really made the system come alive increasing the mids and highs and of course adding BASS!!!
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...radrz1/091.jpg Also purchased carbon fiber door panel inserts http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...radrz1/088.jpg |
I also added some factory pieces like the trunk cargo net and trunk mat and the Lloyd Camaro SS in red mats all these from Camaro5 forums members
I also installed the red LED scanner bar from AAC, did this myself and pretty nerve racking cutting holes in my $40K plus car. Very happy with the results and I know these aren't for everybody but my family and I love it and honestly that is what matter to me. I also added red LEDs to the front bumper to illuminate the radiator to make the front glow red, just wish I could use it more than the occasion daytime car show. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...radrz1/098.jpg |
Now the engine bay...
Found a black CAI intake from the forums and installed that. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1906.jpg Purchased hydro dipped engine cover off the forums and before it could even arrive found a local shop Premier Hydrographics to dip a few parts in carbon fiber and the radiator shroud cover with 3D skulls and wow what a hit! Took the car in for an oil change at the dealer and all the guys were "inspecting" my car and were full of compliments so went back for round two and had the wiper valance done in skulls and the trunk corners dipped in carbon fiber. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1909.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...N1905-Copy.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...1/DSCN1899.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/007-2.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...N1911-Copy.jpg Then found out about the convertible strut tower brace, so I rushed down and saw Allen at the parts dept for Ron Tonkin and had him order me one. Then I painted it to match the stripe pattern on my hood. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/004-3.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/001-2.jpg |
Here is one of my favorite pictures so far:wub:, picture taken at Modern Muscle Night at PIR wednesday night cruise in. I just added the Plasma DRLs from AAC and a field goal harness from a forum member (reoccurring theme isn't it, THANK YOU FORUM MEMBERS!!!)
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...drz1/012-6.jpg but since then I have recieved and installed my new Technostalgia tail lights. I have my underbody LED light kit (not installed yet) I also purchased a sound system for under the hood and added knight rider sound effects and theme song. (installing this week) Also just purchased a billet cup holder trim piece on the forums as well. I don't have any pictures for this stuff yet once I get everything installed I'll post up more. |
Almost forgot! my Wife helped me pick out new wheels. As much as I love the stock wheels I can't stand seeing 95% of all new camaros with the same wheel, goes back to when I said I don't want my car looking like everyone else's. So we went through some books and I really wanted the Axis Zero concave staggered set, but I listlened to my wife and bought the Foose Legends gloss black with silver lip and it really does fit the car perfectly with my silver stripes. Don't have any good pictures yet because it's been raining the last couple days so when I get a chance to wash her up I'll take some new photos of her.
